One acupuncture point can help you deal with motion sickness and vomiting

Many people suffer from motion sickness, which is often accompanied by vomiting. Pressing the ear acupoints has a good and rapid effect on motion sickness and vomiting.

Causes of motion sickness and vomiting

Motion sickness has a lot to do with the human body's vestibular balance organ. The vestibular organ is an important organ for maintaining the body's balance function. When a car starts, runs or brakes, the human vestibule will be stimulated. People who suffer from motion sickness are prone to vestibular imbalance, which then causes autonomic nervous system dysfunction. The autonomic nervous system controls the peristalsis of the gastrointestinal smooth muscle. When the autonomic nervous system function is disordered, the gastrointestinal smooth muscle will spasm or reverse peristalsis, resulting in vomiting. In addition, there are some receptors on the inner wall of the human stomach. When the car is moving, these receptors will be pulled, which can also cause reverse peristalsis of the gastrointestinal smooth muscle and cause vomiting.

Preventing and treating motion sickness by pressing ear acupoints

Pressing the ear acupoints can effectively prevent and treat motion sickness and vomiting. When you feel uncomfortable while riding in a car, press the ear acupoints in time: stomach. This acupoint is located where the helix disappears. When the stomach cramps, there will be obvious tenderness at this acupoint. It should be noted that ear acupoints are generally an area rather than a point. If you search carefully in this area with a probe or fingertips, you will find that the tenderness at a certain point is more intense. This is the acupoint we are looking for.

Auricular acupoint massage

When stimulating the "stomach", press the acupoint vertically with the fingertips, starting from small to large, within the tolerance of the person who suffers from motion sickness. Continue pressing the acupoint on one side for 3 to 5 minutes, rest for 2 minutes, and then press again or switch to the acupoint on the other ear. When pressing, be careful not to pinch the skin with your fingernails to avoid damaging the skin, and do not rub it after pressing.

Reaction after ear acupressure

After pressing the stomach reflex area, you will first feel obvious pain in the ear, and the effect will only be seen after obvious pain occurs. Then after pressing continuously for one or two times, you will feel acid in your stomach or have a few sour burps. At this time, the feeling of vomiting will be significantly reduced or disappear, indicating that the stomach spasm has been relieved.

Mechanism of auricular acupoint massage for treating motion sickness and vomiting

There are more than 90 acupoints on the human ear. Most of these acupoints are the reaction points of internal organs on the ears. Stimulating these reaction points has a bidirectional regulatory effect on the corresponding organs. The so-called bidirectional regulation effect means that when the organ function is too hyperactive, stimulating these reaction points can adjust its function towards inhibition and restore it to normal; when the organ function is insufficient, stimulating these reaction points can adjust its function towards excitement and restore it to normal. The mechanism of pressing the ear points to prevent and treat motion sickness and vomiting is, on the one hand, to stimulate the relevant acupoints to relieve the spasm or reverse peristalsis of the gastrointestinal smooth muscles and restore normal peristalsis, thereby achieving the purpose of treating vomiting; on the other hand, pressing the ear points generally causes obvious pain, and the stimulation of pain helps to divert people's attention and reduce the discomfort caused by motion sickness.
