Symptoms of chronic cholecystitis:

1. Acute attack of chronic cholecystitis

The patient had a history of cholecystitis, and the acute onset was consistent with acute cholecystitis.

2. Painful cholecystitis

Long-term dull pain in the right upper abdomen.

3. Upper abdominal distension and belching after meals.

4. Asymptomatic

It is only discovered during surgery or autopsy.

Causes

1. Chronic calculous cholecystitis is the same as acute cholecystitis. Gallstones can cause repeated minor attacks of acute cholecystitis, that is, chronic cholecystitis and acute cholecystitis are different stages of the same disease.

2. Chronic acalculous cholecystitis is discovered during autopsy or surgery and accounts for 2% to 10% of all gallbladder lesions.

3. Chronic atrophic cholecystitis with stones is also known as porcelain gallbladder. The inflammatory stimulation caused by stones leads to calcification of the gallbladder wall. Calcification can be limited to the mucosa, muscle layer or both. It is more common in female patients over 65 years old.

4. Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis is rare and is caused by bile lipids entering the connective tissue of the gallbladder cavity, leading to an inflammatory reaction.
