Can arthritis be treated with blocking injections?

Can arthritis be treated with blocking injections?

In life, arthritis is a very common bone disease for us. Arthritis has a great impact on physical health. It will also limit normal free activities, causing redness, swelling, and pain in the joints. It needs timely treatment, and blocking injections are a relatively common drug. People with arthritis can also get blocking injections, but the injection must be combined with the actual symptoms.

Is it good to get a blocking injection for arthritis?

You can fight, but you can’t fight casually.

Blockade is actually a kind of local anesthesia. The drug blocks the local nerves and plays a role in blocking the nerves. Some doctors may add some hormones to the blocking needle to play an anti-inflammatory and analgesic role. This method is quick and cheap, so it is more effective for patients with joint pain, especially those who are in so much pain that they cannot walk. However, the blocking injection is not without side effects, so it should not be done casually.

Closed needle is suitable for acute degenerative osteoarthritis

For acute degenerative osteoarthritis, a short-term blocking injection can be given. In the acute phase, that is, when local joints are red and swollen, pain is obvious, and joint flexion and extension are difficult, there is often obvious joint effusion. After the joint effusion is extracted, intra-articular injection of drugs can be used for closed treatment. It can reduce the body's own inflammatory response, reduce damage to articular cartilage, block the vicious cycle, and improve the symptoms of acute arthritis. It is very effective.

Requirements for sealing injections

First of all, the infection needs to be eliminated. Strict aseptic operation is also required when giving the blocking injection. The number of blocking injections should not be too many, at most once a week. It should not be used unless in the acute attack period of arthritis to avoid dependence.

The harm of random injections for arthritis

Although the method of using blocking injections to relieve arthritis pain is quick and relatively cheap, it can easily accelerate joint degeneration and aggravate osteoporosis.

1. Infection: Infections caused by joint blockade are often seen clinically. Because of the use of hormones, the infection caused by blockade is difficult to control and requires continuous flushing of the joints, which is very painful and has serious sequelae.

2. Blockade can only relieve pain symptoms, but it can accelerate joint degeneration.

3. Closed treatment will bring potential infection risks to surgeries such as joint replacement. Most doctors would consider delaying joint replacement surgery for more than 3 months after closure.
