There are several types of breast cancer

There are several types of breast cancer. In simple terms, it is generally divided into non-invasive cancer, early invasive cancer, invasive cancer of non-special type and invasive cancer of special type. Most are invasive cancers of non-special type. Generally, non-invasive cancers are considered to be carcinoma in situ, and most of them have good treatment effects. For invasive cancer of non-special type, it mainly includes invasive ductal carcinoma and invasive lobular carcinoma. This type has low differentiation and poor prognosis. Among them, invasive ductal carcinoma accounts for 80% of breast cancer and is the most common type of breast cancer. After the diagnosis of breast cancer is clear, comprehensive treatment is needed according to the specific stage of the tumor and molecular typing. Methods include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy and even targeted therapy.

Is stage 5 breast cancer serious?

Breast cancer is a systemic disease and one of the most common malignant tumors in women. In very rare cases, men may also develop breast cancer. Generally, breast cancer is only divided into stages 1 to 4, so there is generally no such thing as stage 5. Of course, if it is a breast lump, there may be five categories of classification. If it is a late stage, it must be more serious, and it may mean that there are multiple metastatic lesions. For breast cancer with multiple metastases, local tumor lesions can generally be removed, and then combined with systemic treatment, including chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted therapy, and now there are some new immunotherapy methods.

What happens if you have chemotherapy first and then surgery for breast cancer?

The reason why breast cancer needs chemotherapy and then surgery is mainly due to the different conditions. If breast cancer is found in the early stage, surgery can be performed first, and then chemotherapy can be performed. If breast cancer has reached the middle and late stages, it may have lost the opportunity for surgery. Chemotherapy can be performed first to control breast cancer to a certain extent, and then breast cancer can be removed. This can not only increase the success rate of surgery, but also effectively prolong life.
