What tests should be done for nasopharyngeal cancer

After the disease is discovered, doctors often ask us to conduct a comprehensive examination to determine the patient's specific situation. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a type of cancer that is more common in the south. In order to avoid unnecessary examinations, we need to know what should be done for nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is common in young people. The primary tumor is large, often with severe nasal congestion and ear symptoms. The lymph node metastasis of this disease is not limited to the neck, but affects many lymph nodes throughout the body.

The early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are not obvious and are easily ignored. At the same time, the early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are very similar to other diseases such as rhinitis and are easy to misdiagnose. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma needs to be diagnosed through examination.

If the disease resembles nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the following tests are recommended:

1. Pathological examination of tumor biopsy: This is the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Other clinical examinations cannot replace qualitative means. Whether it is the first diagnosis or recurrence after treatment, pathology must be available before treatment.

2. Serological examination: Patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma often have serum EB virus antibodies VER-IgA and RA-IgA, which may have existed before the onset of clinical symptoms. EB virus antibodies are positive, and their titer levels usually increase with the progression of the disease and decrease with the improvement of the disease.

3. Pathological examination: Repeat nasopharyngeal biopsy is negative for pathological examination or nasopharyngeal endoscopy shows no lesions. Neck lymph node biopsy should be performed using a single-line excisional biopsy, which is estimated to be completely resectable. Nasopharyngeal biopsy materials with lumps in the nasopharynx should be selected. Since nasopharyngeal biopsy is convenient and quick, with little damage and little impact on prognosis, it can be repeated if the biopsy is negative.

The above three tests complement each other. If you think you have nasopharyngeal cancer, you should do the above three tests to confirm the diagnosis.
