What are the symptoms after chemotherapy for lymphoma and how to care for them

What are the symptoms of lymphoma after chemotherapy? How to care?

Lymphoma is a systemic disease with a higher probability of recurrence and metastasis than other diseases, so most patients use chemotherapy after surgery to prevent and eliminate residual lesions. But chemotherapy for lymphoma is not so easy because it has great side effects on the human body and has a great impact on the patient's life.

During chemotherapy for lymphoma, many patients will have some local reactions. This is because this treatment will cause most patients to have varying degrees of bone marrow suppression, which is mainly manifested as a decrease in white blood cells, especially granulocytes. Severe platelets, red blood cells, and hemoglobin may be reduced. Some patients will experience fatigue, loss of resistance, susceptibility to infection, fever, bleeding, etc.

After chemotherapy, lymphoma patients' family members and relatives also need to provide certain care.

1. General care: Some chemotherapy drugs have neurotoxic side effects, causing numbness of hands and feet, tremors in the limbs, etc. Local massage can be performed. Some drugs can cause osteoporosis in patients. When patients get up or walk on slippery ground, family members should remind or help them to avoid falls and fractures.

2. Diet: It is best to choose high-calorie, high-protein, high-vitamin, low-fat, and easily digestible foods, and encourage patients to eat small and frequent meals. The diet should be diversified, and the color, aroma, and taste of the food should be used as much as possible to induce the patient to eat. In view of the symptoms of heat toxicity, yin injury, and qi depletion caused by radiation, during radiotherapy, you can eat more foods that nourish qi and yin, such as watermelon, pear, peach, black plum, and reed root.

3. Psychology: Family members should understand the patient's condition and psychological state, provide good psychological care, keep abreast of the patient's thoughts, patiently explain the possible reactions to chemotherapy, eliminate the patient's tension and unnecessary worries, and make the patient confident in the treatment.
