Is blood in the nasal discharge a nasopharyngeal cancer? How should it be treated? In daily life, a little blood mixed in the mucus that is blown out or sucked back out usually does not cause people to pay attention, but in the opinion of specialists, the significance of persistent bloody mucus is far more important than repeated, non-massive nosebleeds, because the former may be a signal of intranasal disease, which may have serious consequences if treatment is delayed. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common tumors in my country, and ranks first in the incidence of head and neck malignant tumors. The age of onset of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is mostly between 40 and 60 years old, and it is more common in men than in women. Its main manifestations are: blood in the snot or blood in the nose when blowing, which is bleeding caused by the rupture of the tumor surface. The amount of bleeding is generally not much, and it is more common in the morning when getting up. Because the early features of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are not obvious, it is easy to be overlooked. Most patients are diagnosed only after a lump or other metastatic symptoms are found in the neck, thus missing the best time for treatment. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are necessary. Early signs of nasopharyngeal cancer that need to be watched out for include: 1. Nose bleeding. Blood in the nasal discharge is often a sign of nasopharyngeal cancer. 2 Unilateral nasal congestion. It is not obvious in the early stage, but becomes progressively worse as the tumor grows. It is different from a cold, which manifests as a unilateral nasal congestion and is ineffective against cold treatment. 3 Symptoms in one ear. The tumor tissue grows larger and invades the Eustachian tube, which can cause otitis media, ear pain, tinnitus, and hearing loss. If the pharyngeal opening of the Eustachian tube is compressed, the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the tympanic cavity will increase, which can aggravate the tinnitus symptoms. |
