COPD is also known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is a serious respiratory disease. Patients with COPD not only have a high incidence rate, but also a very high mortality rate. Since this disease is a chronic disease, once it occurs, it will seriously affect daily life and work, and it is very harmful to people's health. Can aminophylline treat COPD?

Can aminophylline treat COPD?

The pharmacological effect of aminophylline sustained-release tablets mainly comes from theophylline, and ethylenediamine enhances its water solubility. Aminophylline sustained-release tablets have a direct relaxant effect on respiratory smooth muscle. Its mechanism of action is relatively complex. Recent experiments suggest that the bronchodilator effect of thea alkaloids is partly due to the release of endogenous adrenaline and norepinephrine. In addition, theophylline is a purine receptor blocker that can counteract the contractile effects of adenine and other substances on the respiratory tract. Theacrine can enhance the contraction force of the diaphragm, especially when the diaphragm contraction is weak, so it is beneficial to improve respiratory function.

Oral aminophylline sustained-release tablets can be absorbed slowly. In the body, aminophylline releases theatrical amine, the latter of which has a protein binding rate of 60%. T1/2 for newborns (under 6 months) is 24 hours, for children (over 6 months) is 3.7 hours 1.1 hours, for adults (non-smokers and without asthma) is 8.7 hours 2.2 hours, and for smokers (1-2 packs a day) is 4-5 hours. Most of the aminophylline sustained-release tablets are excreted through the kidneys in the form of metabolites, and 10% is excreted in its original form.

The main indications of aminophylline sustained-release tablets are to relieve wheezing symptoms such as bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, and obstructive pulmonary emphysema; they can also be used for asthma caused by cardiogenic pulmonary edema. Aminophylline sustained-release tablets can alleviate the symptoms of COPD to a certain extent, but they can only treat the symptoms and not the root cause. Therefore, the best thing for patients to do is to go to the hospital for treatment in time and take medication under the guidance of professionals.
