To prevent melanoma, do three things to avoid

Melanoma, also known as melanoma cancer, is a malignant tumor originating from epidermal melanocytes or pigmented nevi. It can be seen at any age and is slightly more common in women than in men. Currently, melanoma is mainly prevented.

To prevent melanoma, avoid these three things in your life:

1. Avoid ultraviolet rays

In summer, you should wear a hat, sunglasses, umbrella, and sunscreen. When you go out, try to walk under the shade of trees or buildings. When traveling, you should do your homework in advance and bring sunscreen and sun protection tools. Secondly, you should be especially careful about moles in areas that are easily rubbed. For example, the soles of the feet are where the body is stressed, as well as the waistband, neckline, and the area where you wear a bra. Long-term friction can lead to malignant changes. If conditions permit, preventive removal is recommended. Go to a specialist hospital and ask an experienced doctor for treatment.

2. Avoid friction

For pigmented nevi that occur in areas prone to friction, biopsy should be performed for pathological examination. For example, if a child has a large hairy nevus on the waist, it is often rubbed and squeezed by the belt, so it should be completely removed as soon as possible. If it is difficult to remove all of it at once, the main part of the large hairy nevus can be removed as much as possible in the middle before it becomes malignant, and the two sides can be sutured. After the surrounding skin is loosened, the remaining part can be removed until the nevus is completely removed to prevent malignant transformation. Each specimen removed must be sent for pathological examination. If there is malignant transformation, it should be completely removed and skin grafting should be performed.

3. Avoid stimulation

It is not advisable to stimulate moles with corrosive drugs or complete freezing. If the moles cannot be frozen off in one time and are repeatedly frozen several times, it is dangerous, because moles often become malignant due to traumatic stimulation. It is reported that some people have become malignant due to incomplete freezing. About 30% to 50% of malignant melanomas are related to external stimulation. If it is necessary for beauty, it is safer and more reliable to remove the mole at one time. Cryotherapy combined with excision should be completed in one time, and it is forbidden to remove in multiple times. The excised specimens should be sent for pathological examination.
