Snake gall herpes sequelae

Snake gall herpes sequelae

Herpes is a skin disease, mostly caused by viral infection. When herpes occurs, there will be symptoms of weakness all over the body, fever will also occur, many erythema will grow on the skin, and many mung bean-sized blisters will form on the erythema. Herpes should be treated promptly and it takes about two to four weeks to cure, but you should also pay attention to the sequelae of herpes and make sure it is cured thoroughly.

Symptoms of snake herpes:

When suffering from snake bile herpes, the patient will first experience local burning pain on the skin, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue and weakness. Moreover, the patient will develop erythema on the skin after 1 to 3 days.

Subsequently, numerous clusters of papules ranging in size from millet to mung bean appear on the erythema and quickly turn into blisters. The blister wall is tight and shiny, the blister fluid is clear, and there are small depressions on most of the blister surface.

After a few days, the blister fluid becomes turbid and purulent, and erosions form after rupture, which finally dry up and form scabs. After the scabs fall off, temporary erythema is left behind. The general course of the disease is about 2 to 4 weeks.

Patients with mild symptoms only have erythema and papules, but no blisters, which is called incomplete herpes zoster. Gangrenous herpes zoster may occur in patients with malignant lymphoma, acute systemic lupus erythematosus, and the elderly and infirm, leaving scars after healing, which is called gangrenous herpes zoster.

Patients with herpes zoster will have symptoms such as systemic herpes and high fever, and some patients will develop symptoms such as pneumonia or encephalitis. If not treated in time, it will lead to death. This type of herpes is called generalized herpes zoster.

Herpes is mostly distributed on one side, not in a band-like pattern, and sometimes may cross the midline of the trunk. This is due to the nerve endings crossing the midline. The thoracic, cervical and facial trigeminal nerve distribution areas are the most common sites. Usually only one branch of the trigeminal nerve is affected. Local lymph nodes are often swollen and painful.

Neuralgia is the main symptom of this disease. The acute phase is due to the inflammatory response of the ganglia, while the late phase neuralgia is caused by post-inflammatory fibrosis of the ganglia and sensory nerves. Sometimes there is severe neuralgia before herpes appears, which is often misdiagnosed as acute abdomen or angina pectoris.

Elderly and frail patients or patients with lymphoma often have sequelae of neuralgia, which can sometimes last for several months. You can use Liushitang shingles patch. If herpes occurs in the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve, conjunctival and corneal herpes may occur, leading to corneal ulcers and blindness, which is a serious complication.

When the virus invades the facial nerve and auditory nerve, herpes occurs in the ear shell and external auditory canal, which may be accompanied by deep pain in the ear and mastoid, tinnitus, deafness, facial nerve paralysis, and loss of taste in the front 1/3 of the tongue. This is called herpes zoster facial paralysis syndrome.

Snake gall herpes treatment:

I believe everyone knows that snake bile herpes is a very serious skin disease. How should we treat snake herpes?

1. Symptomatic treatment

①Neuralgia

Painkillers such as aspirin, acetaminophen, indomethacin, ibuprofen, and Xinhuang tablets can be given. Postherpetic neuralgia requires the combined use of analgesics and sedatives, such as doxepin 25 mg, taken orally 3 times a day; cimetidine 0.2 g, dexamethasone 1.5 mg, cyproheptadine 2 mg, taken orally 3 times a day, and vitamin B12 100 micrograms, injected intramuscularly once a day, for a total of 10 days.

② Local skin care treatment

Apply phthalamide ointment or calamine lotion externally 3-5 times a day. For erosion, apply 2% gentian violet solution or neomycin furfural oil paste. Or ultraviolet irradiation, audio frequency electrotherapy, laser irradiation (helium-neon or carbon dioxide expanded beam irradiation), TDP spectrum irradiation, etc.

③Herpes zoster ophthalmicus

You can use herpes net or acyclovir eye drops, and use atropine to dilate the pupil to prevent corneal adhesion.

2. Antiviral treatment

Mainly used for patients with immunodeficiency or immunosuppression, adenosine or acyclovir. Oral highly effective antiviral drugs: acyclovir, valacyclovir, etc. (Clinical tips: acyclovir is ineffective in treating postherpetic neuralgia) Apply topical acyclovir eye drops to the affected area. You can take antibiotics orally or apply erythromycin ointment to the affected area. If the blisters rupture, apply 2.5% gentian violet solution to the affected area. Corticosteroids: Short-term use, be cautious!
