What causes bladder cancer?

Bladder cancer is a common malignant tumor among the elderly, which can cause serious harm to patients. It occurs mainly due to the malignant overgrowth of cells in the bladder, and the patient's immune system cannot clear them in time. Over time, bladder cancer forms. So what causes bladder cancer? Let's learn about its causes.

There are many factors that induce bladder cancer, such as environment, living habits, genetics, etc., which are closely related. Therefore, prevention and treatment need to start from many aspects. Common causes of bladder cancer are:

1. Carcinogens in water. If people drink tap water that has been disinfected with chlorine and contains chlorination by-products for a long time, it will increase the risk of bladder cancer.

2. Dietary reasons: People who drink coffee regularly have a higher risk of bladder cancer than those who do not drink coffee.

3. Urinary tract diseases. For example, if the urethral epithelium is subjected to chronic stimulation for a long time, it can easily lead to canceration after epithelial proliferation. Or, due to the increase in the level of carcinogens in the urine caused by human metabolic products, it can also easily lead to bladder disease. For example, bladder squamous cell carcinoma is related to Schistosoma haematobium infection or bladder stones.

4. Artificial sweeteners. Eating too much food containing artificial sweeteners can also lead to bladder cancer. A survey shows that sweeteners can increase the risk of bladder cancer in men by 60%.

5. Tobacco: Tobacco is also an important factor causing bladder cancer. Among bladder cancer patients, many are long-term smokers. Moreover, compared with non-smokers, smokers have a four times higher risk of bladder cancer than non-smokers. Therefore, quitting smoking can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer.

6. Lack of water: If you take in too little fluid in your life, you may also increase your risk of bladder cancer. This is because taking in less fluid will make the urine concentrated and prolong the urination period. If concentrated urine is retained in the bladder for a long time, the chance of bladder cancer will naturally increase. Therefore, you should pay attention to drinking more water in your life.

7. Occupational factors: The incidence of bladder cancer is also related to some occupations. For example, some people who are frequently exposed to benzene dyes are prone to increase the risk of bladder cancer. Generally, such occupations as auto workers, painters, dry cleaners, papermakers, oncologists, garment workers, etc., will increase the risk of bladder cancer.

8. Pelvic radiotherapy: For some women, if they receive pelvic radiotherapy for cervical cancer or ovarian cancer, their risk of bladder cancer will also increase.

The above are some of the reasons why joints cause bladder cancer. It can be seen that many factors in life can increase the risk of bladder cancer. Therefore, for our own health, we should try our best to avoid some adverse factors that are harmful to our health to reduce the chance of disease. For the prevention and treatment of bladder cancer, we should also pay attention to preventing the causes.
