What are the symptoms of bladder cancer

Bladder cancer is a malignant tumor that can occur at any age, even in children. The incidence rate increases with age. The peak age is around 50 to 70 years old. The incidence rate in men is much higher than in women. Severe cases can cause death of patients. So what are the symptoms of bladder cancer?

1. There are many symptoms of bladder cancer, but the most common symptom is hematuria, which occurs in 94% of patients. Hematuria is usually macroscopic hematuria. The second is microscopic hematuria, which is usually intermittent. Some patients may have hematuria throughout the whole process or terminal hematuria. Hematuria may only occur once or last for one or several days, and will subside or stop on its own.

2 Some patients may have hematuria again after a certain period of time. The color of this kind of hematuria may range from light red to dark brown, but it is usually dark red, similar to meat washing water or tea water. The amount of bleeding and the duration of hematuria are not necessarily proportional to the malignancy, size, range and number of the tumor in the patient's body. Sometimes when macroscopic hematuria occurs, the tumor is already very large or in the late stage. Sometimes, a large amount of hematuria occurs when the tumor is very small.

3 Some patients are found to have tumors in their bladders during health check-ups through B-ultrasound examinations. 10% of bladder cancer patients have bladder irritation symptoms at the beginning, manifested as frequent urination, urgency, pain and difficulty urinating, while some patients have no obvious macroscopic hematuria. This is generally caused by tumor necrosis, ulcers, larger or more numerous tumors in the bladder, or diffuse infiltration of the bladder tumor into the bladder wall, resulting in reduced bladder capacity or concurrent infection.

These are the symptoms of bladder cancer, so patients with this type of cancer should go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible and not miss the best treatment period. Urinalysis, urine exfoliative cytology, urine tumor markers, abdominal and pelvic B-ultrasound and other examinations can be performed. If it is confirmed to be bladder cancer, a treatment plan must be determined.
