What is the significance of TG index after hemisection of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells of the thyroid gland. Clinical manifestations include neck mass, neck pain or compression symptoms, and may also include dyspnea, dysphagia, hoarseness, etc. Hemisection of thyroid cancer refers to a unilateral lobectomy that preserves the thyroid gland. The postoperative Tg index has a certain expression significance, generally including serum thyroglobulin index, thyroxine index, calcitonin gene detection index, etc.

1. Serum thyroglobulin index: Thyroglobulin is a specific marker for diagnosing thyroid cancer. Monitoring serum thyroglobulin index after surgery can determine whether the tumor has recurred. It can also evaluate the thyroglobulin clearance rate and guide the subsequent treatment of thyroid cancer patients.

2. Thyroid hormone index: Thyroid hormone is a hormone that maintains the body's metabolic excitement. Since patients are in a state of hypothyroidism after thyroid cancer surgery, it is necessary to test the thyroid hormone index and judge the recovery of thyroid function based on its numerical changes;

3. Calcitonin gene detection index: Calcitonin gene is a gene located in human embryonic tissue and in the central nervous system of mammals. It is transformed from a specific chemical gene. This gene detection can be used to determine the recurrence of thyroid cancer patients after surgery.

4. Other indicators: Since thyroid cancer patients need to undergo radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatments after surgery, the body's immune function may be damaged, leading to elevated tumor markers.

In addition to the above indicators, patients who have undergone hemisection of thyroid cancer should also undergo regular follow-up examinations such as thyroid color Doppler ultrasound and head MRI to understand whether the tumor has recurred. At the same time, you should have a correct understanding of the disease and not be too afraid. It is recommended to consult the attending physician to clarify the treatment method.
