Should thyroid cancer be treated?

Should thyroid cancer be treated?

Whether thyroid cancer needs treatment should be determined based on the stage of thyroid cancer, pathological type, and the patient's own condition. Generally, early-stage thyroid cancer may not require treatment, while mid- to late-stage thyroid cancer is recommended to be actively treated.

1. Early thyroid cancer: If it is papillary carcinoma or follicular carcinoma, and the tumor is relatively small, there is no lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis, and it has not invaded surrounding tissues such as the trachea and esophagus, it is usually early thyroid cancer. At this time, special treatment is generally not required, and regular check-ups are sufficient;

2. Advanced thyroid cancer: If it is medullary cancer or undifferentiated cancer, or the tumor is relatively large, and lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis has occurred, it is advanced thyroid cancer. At this time, it is recommended to perform surgical resection in time, such as total resection, near-total resection, etc., and cooperate with auxiliary treatment measures such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. If the patient is in poor physical condition and cannot tolerate surgery, radioactive iodine-131 can be used for treatment according to the doctor's advice;

3. Other situations: For patients with high-risk factors, such as older age and family history of malignant tumors, it is recommended to undergo surgical resection as soon as possible. Because such patients have a higher probability of recurrence, it is recommended to undergo surgical resection as soon as possible.

In daily life, we should pay attention to maintaining good living habits, avoid staying up late and overwork. The diet should be light, you can eat fresh fruits and vegetables appropriately, and avoid eating spicy and irritating foods.
