What tests should be done for prostate cancer

To diagnose a disease, you must go to the hospital for formal examinations, so that you can accurately determine whether your body has a disease. Nowadays, more and more men are suffering from prostate cancer. This disease seriously threatens people's health. So what examinations should be done for prostate cancer?

Step 1: Rectal examination: Use your index finger to touch the prostate. If prostate nodules are found, prostate cancer is suspected. Even if there are no symptoms, further prostate puncture biopsy should be performed for diagnosis.

Step 2: Serum pSA test: Under normal circumstances, the pSA in the blood is less than 4 micrograms/ml. It increases in patients with prostate cancer and other prostate diseases. This is currently the most sensitive indicator for screening prostate cancer. If the pSA level is higher than 4 micrograms/ml, a recheck should be performed, and a rectal digital examination will not be performed during the recheck. If it is still elevated and inflammation or other factors are excluded, the possibility of prostate cancer is suspected, and a prostate puncture biopsy should be performed.

Step 3: Transrectal ultrasound examination: The ultrasound probe is placed into the rectum like a rectal examination. This examination has an effect on increasing serum pSA. Therefore, it should be performed after blood is drawn. Transrectal ultrasound examination can see nodules of lesions or lesions that are not found during a rectal examination.

The above three examinations should be done one by one. Only according to the results of each examination can you know specifically whether you have prostate cancer. If the examination results show that you have prostate cancer, then the patient must actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment and strive to get rid of prostate cancer as quickly as possible.
