How to care for liver cancer patients? To prevent liver cancer, pay attention to these hidden symptoms

Liver cancer is one of the common diseases. Liver cancer is a common malignant tumor with a high mortality rate. The early symptoms are not obvious, and the late stage mainly manifests as liver pain, fatigue, weight loss, jaundice, ascites and other symptoms. We should do a good job in preventing liver cancer and adhere to the seven-character liver cancer prevention policy of "controlling water, controlling food, and preventing hepatitis".

A 30-year-old liver tumor patient had dry cough and pain in his right shoulder and right lower rib for more than half a year. He initially thought it was a lung problem, but multiple chest X-rays did not reveal any problems. He was also treated for chronic pharyngitis for a long time but did not get better. After imaging and blood tests, the doctor found a large tumor in his liver, which caused the upper right diaphragm to bulge and irritate the lungs, which was the cause of the cough.

To prevent liver cancer, you need to recognize the hidden symptoms of liver cancer.

When it comes to the symptoms of liver cancer, many people's first impression is pain in the liver area. In fact, the manifestations of liver cancer are more than that. There are some symptoms that you would never associate with liver cancer, such as a persistent cough.

There are many patients who suffer from coughing due to large liver tumors stimulating the diaphragm, but most of them are treated for respiratory diseases. By the time it is diagnosed as a liver tumor, the best time for treatment has often been missed, which is a pity.

Liver cancer grows very "crazily", and can double in size in about a month. Clinically, the five-year survival rate of liver cancers smaller than 3 cm can reach 65.4%, but the diameter of the tumor in the above patient has exceeded 10 cm, and even with surgical resection, the prognosis is not ideal. There are many symptoms of liver cancer, such as protruding liver tumors that stimulate the diaphragm and cause back pain; blocked portal veins can cause ascites, leading to abdominal pain, bloating and other symptoms; and some patients have their stomachs and duodenums compressed by protruding tumors, and feel stomach pain after eating, mistakenly thinking it is indigestion. Therefore, chronic coughs, back pain, and stomach pain that have not been cured for a long time need to be alert to the possibility of tumors.

Five things you need to do at home for liver cancer

1. Diet care for liver cancer

Patients are generally fasted for 3 days after liver cancer surgery. After intestinal peristalsis is restored, they are given full fluid, half fluid and normal food, step by step. Patients with decreased liver function, loss of appetite and poor nutritional status due to the disease should be given nutritional support. When patients can eat, they should be guided to choose some high-calorie, moderate-quality protein, high-vitamin, low-fat, low-sodium and easily digestible foods. The basic principle is to eat small meals frequently, avoid raw, cold and hard foods, and measure the patient's weight regularly to understand the nutritional status.

II. Respiratory Tract Care for Liver Cancer

Due to the large surgical trauma, elevated diaphragm, and limited respiratory movement, if the patient has difficulty coughing and expectoration, nebulization inhalation can be given. After each nebulization inhalation, the patient should be turned over in time, tapped on the back, and instructed to press the incision with both hands, take a deep breath and cough. Encourage the patient to cough up the sputum.

3. Liver cancer cleaning care

Strengthen skin care after surgery, scrub the whole body with warm water several times a day, keep the cervix and perineum clean, keep the bed clean and dry, and change the bed sheets and hospital gowns once a day. Strengthen oral hygiene care during fasting. Patients and their families should not open the gauze at will or touch the incision with their hands to prevent contamination.

4. Liver cancer rehabilitation nursing

Medical staff and the patient's family should closely observe the patient's state of consciousness, whether there is mental confusion, whether the patient's self-care ability is reduced, whether the patient's personality and behavior are abnormal, and whether the patient's diet is high in protein. The patient should be given carbohydrate-based food to ensure the balance of water, electrolytes and other nutrients. The patient should rest in bed and avoid strenuous exercise. The patient should be given intermittent oxygen for 3-4 days after surgery to protect liver cells.

5. Home Care

Liver cancer patients need to rest for a period of time during treatment and do not need to be hospitalized. During the period when patients go home for recuperation, home care should be done well. Keep the living environment for rehabilitation clean and comfortable, and the room should be ventilated. Give patients psychological comfort. Liver cancer patients are impatient and irritable, and their families should understand and tolerate them, and encourage them to participate in normal people's lives, participate in easy work and appropriate learning, so as to establish their own survival value. On the other hand, family members should guide patients to do a good job of self-care, correct bad living habits, not smoke or drink, keep the mouth, face, hair, hand and foot skin, perineum, etc. clean, and prevent respiratory system infection, cross infection, urinary system infection, etc. During the period of rehabilitation at home, you must follow the doctor's advice and take the medicine on time and in the right amount.
