Lung cancer is a disease that many patients lose their lives because of. Because the early symptoms of lung cancer are not obvious, many patients are already in the late stage once they are discovered. So, do you know what are the symptoms of late stage lung cancer? If you don’t know yet, take a look at the following introduction! Shortness of breath, pleural effusion: Almost all patients with late stage lung cancer that have regional spread have shortness of breath to varying degrees. Normal tissue fluid produced by the lungs and myocardium is returned by the lymph nodes in the middle of the chest. If these lymph nodes are blocked by tumors, these tissue fluids will accumulate in the pericardium to form pericardial effusions or accumulate in the chest cavity to form pleural effusions. Both of the above situations can cause shortness of breath. Chest pain: The chest cavity is a very complex space. Three-quarters of the surface of the lungs is surrounded by the chest wall, which is composed of a thin layer of lining (parietal pleura), fat, muscle, ribs and skin in different proportions. Tumor invasion of any of the above parts will cause pain. Therefore, most patients with lung cancer that have regionally spread in the chest have symptoms of chest pain. Facial and neck edema: There is a superior vena cava on the right side of the mediastinum, which transports venous blood from the upper limbs and head and neck back to the heart. If the tumor invades the right side of the mediastinum and compresses the superior vena cava, the jugular vein will initially become swollen due to poor reflux, and eventually it will cause facial and neck edema, which needs to be diagnosed and treated in time. Hoarseness: It is the most common symptom in patients with advanced lung cancer. The recurrent laryngeal nerve that controls the left side of the voice function descends from the neck to the chest, bypasses the large blood vessels of the heart and returns upward to the larynx, thereby controlling the left side of the voice organ. Therefore, if the tumor invades the left side of the mediastinum and compresses the recurrent laryngeal nerve, hoarseness will occur, but there will be no sore throat and other symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection. I hope that after understanding the symptoms of advanced lung cancer, everyone can pay more attention to the physical condition of lung cancer patients. If the patient has some discomfort symptoms, he should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately to avoid worsening of the disease and causing irreparable damage. Lung cancer patients should actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment. |
