Tips on haze protection

Tips on haze protection

Many people are not very clear about the basic knowledge of haze protection, especially for some special groups who need to pay more attention. For example, pregnant women and children must deal with it in time and cannot inhale too much haze. If they need to go out, they must wear a mask. In this way, they can prevent the invasion of haze and respiratory infections to a certain extent.

Special Populations

To deal with haze weather, we have designated the elderly, children, outdoor workers (such as traffic police and construction workers), pregnant women, and people with chronic diseases as the targets according to their age, occupation, and special physiological conditions.

Elderly

The elderly spend more time indoors, so they should pay special attention to cleanliness and hygiene. Those who are used to sweeping the floor with a broom might as well use a vacuum cleaner instead. Carpets, rags, sofa covers, etc. should be cleaned in a timely manner. Traditional cooking methods such as frying and stir-frying tend to produce a lot of fumes, which pollute indoor air. It is recommended to use steaming, boiling and other methods when cooking at home.

child

Children's bodies are not fully developed, and dust and particles in haze weather can directly harm their health through their respiratory tracts, easily causing respiratory diseases such as colds, coughs, rhinitis, bronchitis, asthma, etc. Protection of children is carried out from the following aspects.

Firstly, through publicity and knowledge dissemination in schools, children can have a direct relationship and sensory understanding of smog weather and its impact on health.

Secondly, improve parents' own awareness of methods for their children.

Again, reduce outdoor activities and replace them with indoor activities to reduce the impact of haze on children.

In addition, in daily life, there is a lot of dust and bacteria on the surface of plush toys, so try to let children play with them less or clean them frequently, and keep children away from heavily polluted traffic arteries. If you live by the street, avoid opening windows for ventilation during rush hour.

Outdoor work

The continued occurrence of smog weather will make many people feel uncomfortable outdoors, but generally speaking, we spend less time outdoors and stay indoors most of the time. However, for workers who need to work outdoors for a long time, such as construction workers, sanitation workers, traffic police, etc., they are exposed to haze for a longer time and have a greater amount of exposure. Therefore, it is necessary to emphasize and pay attention to the protection of outdoor workers against haze weather.

Pregnant women

Pregnant women should get proper rest, avoid excessive fatigue, ensure adequate sleep and reduce psychological stress. At the same time, pregnant women cannot just rest, but should still do appropriate activities and maintain an optimistic mood.

1. Eat more zinc-containing foods; 2. Supplement vitamin C; 3. Increase the relative humidity of indoor air.

Chronic diseases

Haze can cause shortness of breath, chest tightness and other discomforts to people suffering from respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and may cause lung infections or acute exacerbations. Diabetic patients are more susceptible to colds because of their weaker immunity. PM2.5 is very destructive to patients with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It will increase the cardiac burden of patients with heart disease and induce cerebral infarction.
