How to treat lung metastasis cancer? Can targeted drugs treat lung metastasis cancer?

The lung is one of the most likely sites for cancer to metastasize from other primary cancers. According to statistics, about 20-30% of cancer patients will have lung metastases. The time interval from the discovery of the primary lesion to the appearance of lung metastases ranges from one month to more than ten years. In a few cases, lung metastases are discovered earlier than the primary lesion.

Lung metastatic tumors are often advanced cancer cases, and the treatment is mainly local treatment (regional treatment) such as radiotherapy or surgery, which can be selectively combined with chemotherapy, targeted drugs, traditional Chinese medicine and other systemic treatments. Each method has unique characteristics and treatment indications, and patients can only get ideal treatment effects by taking appropriate measures according to their disease.

Due to the characteristics of lung metastasis, which often presents multiple lesions, local treatment is mainly radiotherapy, using modern radiotherapy to perform "targeted elimination and decapitation" on the lesions that have appeared, which not only effectively attacks the lesions, but also avoids surgical trauma and the toxic effects of chemotherapy, ensuring a high quality of life for patients. This is currently one of the most effective methods for treating metastatic tumors for a small number of metastatic lesions in the lungs and other parts of the body.

Patients should also pay attention to regular follow-up examinations after treatment. They should take CT scans every three to six months after treatment and conduct corresponding tumor marker tests at the same time to be alert to lung metastases that may occur many years later in a few cases.
