Do you know the dangers of thyroid cancer?

One of the hazards of thyroid cancer is that it can cause breathing difficulties, and in severe cases, it may cause suffocation. Thyroid cancer can also cause difficulty in swallowing, and some patients cannot even eat normally. It can also cause paralysis of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, and the main symptom is hoarseness. If thyroid cancer metastasizes to distant sites, it can endanger the patient's life at any time.

In today's society, many people face tremendous pressure every day, coupled with bad living habits, which has significantly increased the incidence of various cancers, thyroid cancer is one of them. Compared with other cancer diseases, thyroid cancer is less malignant, but if it is not treated, it is still very harmful. So what are the dangers of thyroid cancer?

1. Cause breathing difficulties

One of the hazards of thyroid cancer is that it causes breathing difficulties. Once you have thyroid cancer, the tumor may invade the important organs around the thyroid gland, such as the trachea. If the trachea is compressed or invaded by the tumor, normal breathing will be greatly affected, leading to obvious breathing difficulties. If the situation is serious, the patient may even suffocate.

2. Causes difficulty in swallowing

Thyroid cancer may also cause dysphagia. The thyroid gland and esophagus are very close. If the disease is not treated in time, the tumor will compress or invade the esophagus, which will cause esophageal stenosis. In mild cases, there will be a sense of obstruction or foreign body when swallowing. In severe cases, it will cause dysphagia or even inability to eat.

3. Cause recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis

After suffering from thyroid cancer, if it is not treated in time, the tumor will often grow rapidly, which may invade the recurrent laryngeal nerve. Once the recurrent laryngeal nerve is affected, nerve paralysis is likely to occur, and its main manifestation is hoarseness.

4. Endangering life safety

Thyroid cancer may be life-threatening, which is its most serious hazard. Thyroid cancer is a malignant disease that is relatively difficult to treat. If the treatment is not timely or appropriate, distant metastasis may occur, usually lung metastasis and bone metastasis, and brain metastasis may also occur. If distant metastasis does occur, the hazard of thyroid cancer will greatly increase and may endanger life at any time.
