Is glioma really incurable?

Speaking of glioma, we can say that we are relatively familiar with it. It is a malignant tumor of the brain. Now the incidence rate is getting higher and higher, and it is also very harmful to people. Many people with glioma have undergone treatment, but they will still relapse. So, is glioma really incurable? Let's take a look at the treatment methods of glioma.

1. Surgery: It is often the first step in the treatment of gliomas. Surgery can not only provide a final pathological diagnosis, but also quickly remove most of the tumor cells, relieve the patient's symptoms, and facilitate other treatments in the next step. For some low-grade gliomas, complete surgical resection can enable patients to be cured and survive for a long time.

2. Radiotherapy: After surgical treatment, patients with high-grade gliomas often need further radiotherapy. For patients with low-grade gliomas, if there are high-risk factors (such as tumor volume exceeding 6 cm, incomplete surgical resection, etc.), radiotherapy should also be considered.

3. Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy and targeted therapy are gradually playing an important role in the treatment of gliomas. For some high-grade gliomas, the use of temozolomide can significantly prolong the patient's survival prognosis.

4. Commonly used drugs: Diqing, cisplatin + nimustine hydrochloride

Traditional Chinese medicine: Cidan Capsules, Xiaoaiping, Jinlong Capsules. Commonly used chemotherapy drugs: ACNU (nicotinamide ammonia mustard), BCNU (carbomustine), CCNU (cyclohexyl lomustine), MeCCNU (methyl CCNU), others include fluorouracil (5FU), cisplatin (DDP), carboplatin (CBP) and methyl procarbazine (PCZ). Combination chemotherapy: PCV (methyl procarbazine + CCNU + VCR), hydroxyurea + BCNU, BCNU + cisplatin. The effective rate is between 20%-40%.

Here we have learned about several treatment methods for glioma. Everyone must learn more about this disease. Although glioma cannot be cured and always recurs, patients can maintain a positive and optimistic attitude and prolong their life.
