What are the key points of postoperative care for ovarian teratoma

Teratomas originate from potentially multifunctional primitive embryonic cells and are mostly benign, but the tendency to be malignant increases with age. The site of occurrence is related to the midline anterior axis or midline paracentral area of the embryological body cavity, and is often seen in the sacral and coccygeal region, mediastinum, retroperitoneum, and gonadal region. They are more common in newborns and infants, and are more common in women.

The most common treatment method is surgery. It should be noted that preoperative and postoperative care of patients is very important. If the patient's care is good, it can help the patient recover quickly. Let's take a look at the key points of teratoma care.

How to care after ovarian teratoma surgery:

Eating: 6 hours after surgery, the patient can be allowed to eat a small amount of liquid food, such as rice soup, noodle soup, etc. Do not give the patient sweetened milk, soy milk powder and other sugary drinks to prevent abdominal distension.

Vaginal bleeding: During gynecological laparoscopic surgery, in order to make the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the back of the uterus clear or to provide enough space for surgery, a uterine support device is usually placed in the vagina (not used by unmarried women) to adjust the position of the uterus. Therefore, it is normal to have a small amount of vaginal bleeding after surgery. If vaginal bleeding lasts for more than two weeks, you should consult a doctor.

Massage: Since most patients do not feel pain after surgery, do not neglect massaging the patient's waist and legs, and turn the patient over once every half an hour to promote blood circulation.

Sex life: Generally, patients who have undergone laparoscopic surgery can resume normal sexual life after two weeks. For general infertility patients, those who have undergone fallopian tube examinations and plastic surgery, sometimes they can have sexual intercourse after one month to coordinate with the time of ovulation. However, sexual intercourse should not be too intense.

Activities: The catheter can be removed after the fluid infusion is completed on the same day, and the patient is encouraged to get out of bed and move around.

Daily life: Patients who undergo laparoscopic fallopian tube surgery and laparoscopic ovarian surgery can resume their normal routines two weeks after the surgery. Those who undergo total hysterectomy should avoid riding bicycles and sitting for long periods of time in the first two weeks of the surgery to prevent pelvic congestion. They should also pay special attention to avoid lifting objects weighing more than 5 kilograms.

Nutrition: It is advisable to eat more foods with anti-tumor effects: horseshoe crab, seahorse, turtle, dragon ball tea, hawthorn. For bleeding, it is advisable to eat sheep blood, snail, mussels, squid, shepherd's purse, lotus root, mushroom, water spinach, stone ear, ginkgo, dried persimmon. For infection, it is advisable to eat eel, clam, water snake, needle fish, carp, eucheuma, celery, sesame, buckwheat, rape, Chinese toon, red bean, mung bean. For abdominal pain and bloating, it is advisable to eat pork kidney, bayberry, hawthorn, tangerine cake, walnut, chestnut.

Bathing: Keep the wound clean and dry. You can take a shower only after the wound has completely healed for about 10 days. After returning home, the patient must pay attention to whether the wound is red, swollen, hot, or painful every day to prevent infection and inflammation.
