Coughing in the morning is usually caused by cold, which is caused by cold air irritating the respiratory tract. You must keep warm, avoid catching cold, drink plenty of water, and rest more. Take some cough and expectorant medicine to relieve the symptoms.

What to eat for cold cough?

1. Corn silk and orange peel water

Preparation method: Add appropriate amounts of corn silk and tangerine peel into water and boil them together. Take twice a day.

Efficacy: Relieve cough and reduce phlegm, treat cough caused by wind and cold, and excessive phlegm.

2. Steamed Garlic Water

Method: Take 7 to 10 cloves of garlic (3 to 5 cloves for children), smash them and put them in a bowl, add half a bowl of water, put in a piece of rock sugar, cover the bowl, put it in a pot to steam, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer for 15 minutes over low heat. When the garlic water in the bowl is no longer hot, drink it when it is relatively warm. You don’t have to eat the garlic. Drink it 2 to 3 times a day, half a bowl each time.

Efficacy: Garlic is warm in nature and enters the spleen, stomach and lung meridians. It is very effective in treating cold coughs and kidney deficiency coughs. If consumed together with warm foods that regulate the spleen and stomach, and nourish the kidneys and lungs, the symptoms can be quickly controlled.

3. Mint and Burdock Porridge

Preparation method: 6 grams of mint, 10 grams of burdock seeds, and appropriate amount of polished rice. First boil the burdock seeds for 15 minutes, remove the burdock seeds and save the juice for later use. Cook the glutinous rice into porridge, add the mint after 10 minutes. When the porridge is almost done, add the burdock juice and cook for 5 minutes.

Efficacy: dispel wind and cold, warm the lungs, resolve phlegm and relieve cough.

4. Mustard and ginger soup

Preparation method: 80 grams of fresh mustard greens, 10 grams of fresh ginger, and a little salt. Wash the mustard greens and cut them into small pieces. Slice the ginger. Add four bowls of water and fry until two bowls are left. Season with salt. Take twice a day, and use for 3 days to see the effect.

Efficacy: Clears lungs and relieves cough, dispels wind and cold. Treats wind-cold cough, accompanied by headache, nasal congestion, sore limbs, etc.

5. Ginger Egg Soup

Method: 1 egg, 2 slices of ginger. First cut the ginger into thin strips. After the iron pan is heated, use a little cooking oil to fry the eggs until golden brown. Add shredded ginger and appropriate amount of boiled water. Cook for 5-6 minutes until it becomes about half a bowl, then season with salt.

Efficacy: Ginger and egg soup can relieve cold cough caused by wind and cold.
