What should I do if I have a teratoma on the left ovary

Ovarian teratoma is a very common disease in gynecology. It is a benign tumor. It is a very common cause of gynecological surgery. This tumor not only occurs in the ovaries of women, but also in some parts of men such as the testicles and head and neck, but it is more common in the ovaries. Let's take a look at what to do with the left ovarian teratoma?

Normally, we can make a rough diagnosis through ultrasound examination. Ovarian teratomas generally have no symptoms, but in some cases, some teratomas may become large enough and twist, causing pain in our abdomen, and in rare cases, it may also cause symptoms of a neurological encephalitis.

Once a teratoma is found, surgery is required to remove it; however, for some smaller teratomas, generally less than 3 cm, there is no need to rush for surgery. A decision can be made after a few months of observation, because the teratoma is too small to be operated on, and there is also a fear of misdiagnosis. Therefore, it is more appropriate to treat according to the situation.

If a teratoma occurs during pregnancy, you need to observe it in the first three months of pregnancy and then have surgery after twelve weeks. If it is in the middle or late stages of pregnancy, you should wait until after delivery to deal with it. If a teratoma is found before pregnancy, it is best to have surgery first to prevent the tumor from growing during pregnancy.

If you have this disease, you must first maintain a good attitude, do not panic or have any mental burden, face it with optimism and open-mindedness. A good mental state is the basis for treatment. After the operation, you should pay more attention to rest and eat a light diet.
