Is malignant melanoma hereditary?

Is malignant melanoma hereditary?

Malignant melanoma mainly occurs in human melanocytes. This disease is likely to occur in any part of the human body that has melanocytes. After the onset of the disease, the pigmentation of the affected area will gradually increase, and the affected area will gradually increase, which will lead to the formation of nodules, and there will be some red halos around the nodules. The incidence of this disease is not as high as other skin cancers, but the malignancy of this disease is very high. It is likely to spread and metastasize in the early stage, and the mortality rate is relatively high.

There are many causes of malignant melanoma. In the past, people believed that this disease was caused by the malignant transformation of nevus cells, but later it was found that malignant melanoma occurring on the palms or soles of the body had little to do with nevus cells. The causes of this disease include racial factors and genetic factors.

The incidence of this disease is relatively high among Caucasians, especially in the United States, where the incidence is about 42 per 100,000. The incidence of this disease among blacks is about 0.8 per 100,000. Moreover, this disease can be inherited. There have been reports that identical twins can suffer from melanoma at the same time.

Because melanoma caused by heredity accounts for about 50% of the total number of patients, this disease has a clear family tendency. Many patients suffer from the disease themselves, and there are several or even dozens of people in their family who also suffer from the disease. This disease is not necessarily completely caused by heredity.

Note:

Generally speaking, heredity is only one of the factors for the onset of this disease, and acquired factors are more important. If the patient's direct elders have this disease, coupled with adverse external stimuli, such as ultraviolet stimulation, the probability of the disease is higher.
