Basic knowledge about melanoma

Melanoma is prone to recurrence, so melanoma patients should be vigilant. No matter what the severity of your melanoma is, you must go to a professional skin hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible.

Melanoma is a common skin tumor caused by excessive proliferation of abnormal melanocytes. It is highly malignant and accounts for the vast majority of deaths from skin tumors. It often occurs in the skin or mucous membranes close to the skin, and is also seen in the pia mater and choroid. Its incidence varies with race, region, and ethnicity. The incidence in Caucasians is much higher than that in blacks. The incidence in Caucasians living in Queensland, Australia is as high as 17/100,000. Although my country is a low-incidence area for melanoma, the incidence has been rising in recent years.

Melanoma occurs more often in middle-aged and elderly people, and is more common in men than in women. It is more common in the lower limbs and feet, followed by the trunk, head and neck, and upper limbs. The main symptoms are rapidly growing melanin nodules. Initially, melanin deposition may occur on normal skin, or pigmented moles may increase in pigmentation and become darker. Then the lesions continue to expand, increase in hardness, and are accompanied by itching and pain. Some melanoma lesions are raised, plaque-like, and nodular, while others are mushroom-like or cauliflower-like. When growing into the subcutaneous tissue, it appears as a subcutaneous nodule or mass. If it spreads to the surrounding areas, star-shaped black spots or small nodules appear. A common manifestation is regional lymph node metastasis of melanoma, and even regional lymph node enlargement may lead to medical treatment. In the late stage, it is transferred to the lungs, liver, bones, and brain organs through the blood flow.

In summary, when facing melanoma, no matter how serious your melanoma condition is, as long as you have a positive attitude towards treatment and cooperate with the treatment plan of the melanoma doctor, I believe that melanoma will be cured soon. In addition, in daily life, the prevention of melanoma should start with small things. Only by preventing melanoma can we avoid the recurrence of melanoma.
