Does colon cancer include ulcerative type

Colon cancer includes ulcerative type: the tumor grows deep into the intestinal wall and infiltrates the outside of the intestinal wall. Ulcers may appear in the early stage, with raised edges and deep bottoms. It is prone to bleeding and infection, and it is easy to penetrate the intestinal wall. The cells are poorly differentiated and metastasize early. It is the most common type of colon cancer, and it is more likely to occur in the left colon and rectum.

There may be no symptoms in the early stage, but in the middle and late stages, there may be abdominal distension and indigestion, followed by changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, and mucus or bloody stools. After the tumor ulcerates, blood loss, and toxin absorption, symptoms such as anemia, low fever, fatigue, weight loss, and lower limb edema often occur. If abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation, or inability to defecate occurs, physical examination shows a bulging abdomen, intestinal type, local tenderness, and bowel sounds are heard on auscultation, indicating possible incomplete or complete intestinal obstruction. If the tumor infiltrates and adheres to the omentum and surrounding tissues, an irregular mass is formed. In the late stage, there may be signs of liver and lung metastasis such as jaundice, peritoneal effusion, and edema, as well as cachexia, supraclavicular lymph node enlargement, and other manifestations of distant spread and metastasis of the tumor. The clinical manifestations vary depending on the location of colon cancer, which are described as follows:

The right colon cavity is large, the stool is liquid, and the cancer is mostly ulcerous or cauliflower-shaped. It rarely forms annular stenosis and rarely causes obstruction. If the cancer ruptures and bleeds, secondary infection occurs, accompanied by toxin absorption, there may be abdominal pain, stool changes, abdominal mass, anemia, weight loss or cachexia.
