Can late-stage kidney cancer be passed on to children?

The number of kidney cancer cases increases year by year, and the topic of kidney cancer has become the new normal. It is extremely unfortunate for a family to have a kidney cancer patient, and the whole family is exhausted. In my work in the oncology department, I often encounter patients' families asking me "Is kidney cancer hereditary?" Their concerns are indeed reasonable. The simplest answer in daily life is "Kidney cancer is not hereditary, but there is a genetic tendency." It may not be appropriate to explain it in detail, but it is generally correct. So can late-stage kidney cancer be passed on to children?

In summary, kidney cancer is not necessarily hereditary. Heredity is indeed a possible factor in the occurrence of most kidney cancers. There is indeed a correlation between kidney cancer and heredity. The extent of the correlation needs further research and clarification. It is recommended that people with a family history of kidney cancer should realize that they are susceptible to cancer due to heredity, but it does not mean that they will definitely get cancer. It is not advisable to worry about it and plan ahead. What is more important is to learn how to prevent cancer scientifically, have regular physical examinations, and get early diagnosis and early treatment if there is a problem.
The so-called genetic predisposition to kidney cancer refers to the tendency of some individuals to develop kidney cancer more easily under the same conditions. Studies have shown that the incidence of common malignant tumors such as colorectal cancer, breast cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, etc. has certain genetic factors, but the final occurrence of kidney cancer, in addition to genetic factors, also depends on mental factors, environmental factors, dietary factors, lifestyle habits and other acquired factors. As the famous saying of traditional Chinese medicine goes, "congenital deficiency leads to acquired malnutrition."
