Correct understanding of bone cancer

Bone cancer refers to the skeletal system, which, like other organs, can be affected by tumors from any tissue component or metastatic lesions from other organs. Tumors that invade the bones can occur in osteocytes, hematopoietic components of bones, cartilage, and fibrous or synovial components. The following is a detailed description of bone cancer to give everyone a correct understanding of bone cancer.

Have a correct understanding of bone cancer

There are two types of bone tumors in the human body: primary and secondary. Among them, primary bone tumors originate from bones, cartilage or other bone tissues, and most of them are benign. This type of bone tumor is rare. Secondary cancers that metastasize to bones from other parts of the body are more common. Primary bone cancer usually invades young people, especially those who are taller than their peers. The main type is osteosarcoma, which accounts for about 60% of all primary bone cancers. The reason why it is easy to invade teenagers is that the bones of teenagers are in a rapid development stage, especially sarcomas that occur more often in children aged 5 to 9 and young adults aged 20 to 30. Chondrosarcoma originates from cartilage and is easy to invade middle-aged people. Other rare types of bone cancer occur in adults, including fibrosarcoma, malignant giant cell tumors, and toxic tumors.

The real cause of bone cancer may be related to factors such as excessive bone growth, chronic inflammatory stimulation, genetic factors, infection with special viruses, poor blood return in the bones, and radiation exposure. The possibility of curing bone cancer mainly depends on how early it is discovered and the speed of tumor metastasis. The survival rate of secondary bone cancer varies, and benign tumors usually become a long-term danger signal for health. The patient's age, gender and location of occurrence have a great relationship with the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant bone cancer. The general clinical symptoms of bone cancer are similar to those of other cancer patients, and symptoms such as decreased appetite, weight loss, and fever will occur. Pain in the affected area, local lumps and swelling in the joints and limbs; the joints in the affected area restrict limb movement; the skin of the affected area will slowly ulcerate, the nerves and blood vessels will be compressed, and the distal end of the affected limb will feel numb.

The most typical symptom of bone cancer is bone pain. If the pain is more obvious at night than during the day, you need to pay special attention. If bone cancer grows in the bones of the limbs, it is easier to detect, metastasizes more slowly and is easier to treat, so the treatment effect should be better than that of the trunk bones. Due to the progress of medicine and the full cooperation of patients and doctors, the survival rate of malignant bone cancer patients with more than 5 years after treatment has increased from 15% to 20% to 60% to 70%.

Warm reminder: Even if you are diagnosed with bone cancer, don't panic. Cancer is preventable and curable. Bone cancer patients should maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, cooperate with the doctor's treatment, and do a good job of daily conditioning. Only in this way can they best help cure bone cancer.
