Nursing methods for severe hemoptysis caused by lung cancer

There are many factors that lead to lung cancer, such as smoking (including second-hand smoke), asbestos, radon, arsenic, ionizing radiation, halogenated olefins, polycyclic aromatic compounds, nickel, etc. The influence of multiple factors. For lung cancer patients, their body and mind are greatly affected. As family members of lung cancer patients, they should take better care of the patients. So, from what aspects should we take care of lung cancer patients?

Nursing care for patients with lung cancer:

1. Daily care:

For patients with advanced lung cancer, their nutritional status is generally poor, and sometimes they have systemic edema, which makes them very likely to develop bedsores, which spread rapidly and are difficult to cure. It is particularly important to prevent bedsores. Reduce local pressure, change body positions on time, and use air rings, soft pillows, etc. to cushion the parts of the body that are prone to pressure to avoid long-term pressure. Keep the skin clean, especially for patients with incontinence, keep the bed clean and flat, and use a baking lamp to irradiate the broken skin to keep the local area dry.

2. Observe the condition:

First, patients with advanced lung cancer often have metastasis to different parts of the tumor, causing different symptoms, and should be carefully observed and given corresponding care. For example, if the patient metastasizes to the liver or brain, he or she may suddenly become unconscious, have convulsions, or have blurred vision. Nurses should promptly detect the disease and give symptomatic treatment.

Secondly, patients with bone metastasis should strengthen limb protection. Intestinal obstruction often occurs in abdominal metastasis, and patients should be observed for symptoms such as abdominal distension and abdominal pain. Due to weakness, fatigue, and reduced activity, patients often suffer from constipation, and suppositories or laxatives should be given in time to relieve constipation. Edema may occur due to malnutrition and low plasma protein, and measures such as increasing nutrition and raising the affected limb should be taken to reduce edema.

3. Relieve symptoms:

First of all, in terms of relieving symptoms, since one of the main symptoms of lung cancer is fever, patients should be advised to keep warm and prevent colds to avoid pneumonia.

Secondly, for irritating coughs, cough suppressants can be given; when patients have persistent coughs at night, they can drink hot water to relieve irritation in the throat.

Finally, if the patient coughs up blood, hemostatic drugs should be given. If the patient coughs up blood in large quantities, notify the doctor immediately. At the same time, tilt the patient's head to one side, clear the blood in the mouth in time to prevent suffocation, and assist the doctor in rescue.

4. Psychological care:

First of all, patients with advanced lung cancer may experience anxiety, fear, sadness, and often feel indifferent and lonely. We must have a high degree of compassion and responsibility, and strive to create a warm and harmonious environment for patients, place them in single rooms, speak in a friendly and sincere manner, encourage patients to express their psychological feelings, provide timely guidance, and actively introduce information about the improvement of their condition to patients.

Secondly, the care for patients with advanced lung cancer is mainly to control symptoms, alleviate patients' pain, create a comfortable recuperation environment for them, and give patients the greatest spiritual support and psychological comfort.

In addition, anti-cancer Chinese medicine can also be used for conditioning. Although Western medicine has a quick effect, it is extremely unstable, prone to relapse, and has great side effects. It is easy to develop drug resistance and only treats the symptoms but not the root cause.

5. Postoperative care:

First of all, patients should be prohibited from smoking to avoid promoting recurrence. If there is a decrease in lung function, patients should be guided to gradually increase their exercise.

Secondly, always pay attention to the patient's recovery. If there is a recurrence, go to the hospital immediately to consult a doctor to decide whether to undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
