Rehabilitation exercise methods for esophageal cancer

Regular exercise during the postoperative recovery period of esophageal cancer can speed up metabolism, make body cells more active, and relax the mood. But you must be careful to do it within your ability. For patients with esophageal cancer after surgery, the incision is generally exposed on the third day. Pay attention to keeping the local area clean, pay attention to the room temperature and the thickness of the bedding, reduce sweating to prevent wound infection, and closely observe whether the wound has redness, swelling, secretions and other signs of infection. If problems are found, deal with them in time.

Postoperative activities are divided into bed activities and out-of-bed activities. The first two days after surgery are mainly bed activities, including sitting up, patting the back, upper and lower limb activities, etc. During activities, care should be taken to protect various tubes such as infusions to prevent them from falling off, and to keep the tubes unobstructed. You can get out of bed and move around on the third day after surgery, which can not only increase lung capacity, keep the trachea unobstructed, and reduce lung complications; it is also beneficial to promote blood circulation, prevent the formation of venous thrombosis, and promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function. Patients' concerns should be eliminated, and early activities will not affect wound healing, let alone cause wound dehiscence.

There are many benefits to getting out of bed and moving around early after esophageal cancer surgery. It can not only improve respiratory and circulatory functions, prevent complications such as lung infection, atelectasis and thrombosis, but also increase appetite and restore gastrointestinal function as soon as possible. When you are active, you must take protective measures in advance, such as fixing various tubes on your body. Once you have symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath, etc., go to bed and rest in time. If it is serious, notify the medical staff as soon as possible. In the first three days after surgery, the patient can stand, step on the spot, and walk around the bed with the help of others; then gradually increase the range of activities and the amount of activity. After being discharged from the hospital, it is not advisable for patients to engage in high-intensity exercise in the short term, such as playing ball, swimming, and mountain climbing. They should start with slow dancing, walking, and Tai Chi, and gradually increase the amount of exercise. It should be done step by step, depending on the individual's physical recovery.

During the recovery period of esophageal cancer, patients should be advised to quit smoking and drinking, do appropriate activities, pay attention to the allocation of nutritious diet, avoid eating irritating foods, pay attention to maintaining oral hygiene, rinse mouth after meals, and pay attention to regular check-ups. Special skin care, avoid direct sunlight, use special skin care products, do not use detergents and cosmetics on the skin in the radiation area to avoid aggravating skin irritation, and prohibit the use of ointments containing metal powder to prevent absorption of radiation and aggravation of skin irritation.

Patients in the recovery period have already developed disease lesions in the esophagus. When eating, especially hard food, pain or other discomfort will be more obvious. Therefore, experts recommend that patients should not eat too much meat in their diet, and meat contains a lot of fat, which is not good for the patient's health. You can choose to eat more fish and shrimp to meet the body's protein needs. The quality of drinking water in areas with a high incidence of esophageal cancer is often poor. Although there are fewer carcinogenic substances in the water, nitrates, amine compounds and nitrites are contained in it. These substances can not only be converted into nitrosamines under certain conditions in vitro, but may also be converted into nitrosamines in the gastrointestinal tract and bladder of the human body. Therefore, the water in the water tank should be renewed every 2 to 3 days, and do not always leave stubs.
