What are the causative factors of kidney cancer

What are the causative factors of kidney cancer

The cause of kidney cancer is unknown, but some data show that its incidence is related to smoking, antipyretic and analgesic drugs, hormones, viruses, coffee, cadmium, thorium, etc.; in addition, workers in some occupations, such as petroleum, leather, asbestos and other industries have a high incidence rate.

1. Smoking

It was found that smoking is positively correlated with the incidence of kidney cancer. People who have smoked for more than 30 years and smoked unfiltered cigarettes have an increased risk of kidney cancer.

2. Obesity and high blood pressure

Studies have shown that high body mass index (BMI) and hypertension are two independent factors associated with an increased risk of kidney cancer in men.

3. Career

It has been reported that workers who come into contact with metals, newspaper printers, coke workers, dry cleaners, and petrochemical workers have an increased risk of developing and dying from kidney cancer.

4. Heredity

Some families have kidney cancer, and when doing chromosome examination, it is found that there are defects in three pairs of chromosomes in people with a high incidence of kidney cancer. Most familial kidney cancers occur at an early age, tending to be multifocal and bilateral. Patients with hereditary diseases such as hereditary macular hamartoma develop kidney cancer in up to 28%-45%.

5. Food and medicine

Excessive intake of dairy products, animal protein, and fat, and insufficient intake of fruits and vegetables are risk factors for kidney cancer.

6. Other diseases

People who have been on dialysis for more than three years should have their kidneys checked by ultrasound every year. Such people are more likely to develop kidney cancer. In addition, people with diabetes are more likely to develop kidney cancer. 14% of kidney cancer patients have diabetes, which is five times the rate of diabetes in the normal population.
