Why do you get esophageal cancer

Why do you get esophageal cancer

Why do people get esophageal cancer? This is a difficult question to answer. The current level of scientific development cannot accurately explain the cause of cancer. Scientists are working hard to overcome this problem. The same is true for esophageal cancer. However, after years of medical practice and the efforts of several generations of medical workers, some factors related to the onset of esophageal cancer have been found, such as abnormal immune system, genetics, diet and environmental factors.

1. Dysfunction of the human immune surveillance system

In the long evolutionary process of gradually adapting and coordinating with the natural environment, the human body has established a complete defense system - the immune system, to deal with the damage to the body caused by various adverse factors. The human immune system is like a country's national defense armed system, defending against foreign invasions and protecting the motherland; internally, it is always vigilant against the destruction of some lawless elements and is ready to eliminate those "tumors" that endanger society. Similarly, the human immune system is to solve the problem of internal and external invasion of the human body.

The functions of the immune system can be grouped into three main categories:

1. Immune defense With normal immune defense function, the body can resist the invasion of various microorganisms and prevent infection. If the immune defense function is too strong, it will cause allergic diseases, which will damage the body. If the immune defense function is too weak, it can cause various immunodeficiency diseases. For example, the AIDS virus invades the body's immune system, and when the disease occurs, it is often combined with infection with multiple bacteria.

2. Immune stability When the immune system functions normally, it will continuously remove aging or damaged cells from the body. When the immune system is imbalanced, autoimmune diseases will occur.

3. Immune surveillance The function of immune surveillance is to kill or eliminate abnormal or cancerous cells in the body and prevent recurrence of infection. When the immune surveillance function is impaired, it can cause tumors, cancer or allow the infection to persist.

(II) External factors and esophageal cancer

The cause of esophageal cancer is related to many external factors, especially the environment and people's living habits. After a long-term investigation of areas with a high incidence of esophageal cancer, it was found that carcinogens contained in fermented and moldy food and drinking water are the main culprits of esophageal cancer.
