Obese women are more susceptible to breast cancer

Obese women are more susceptible to breast cancer

Obesity is closely related to the occurrence of breast cancer. Women who are overweight have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than non-obese people. Postmenopausal women who are overweight are more likely to develop breast cancer.

First, too much fat will accelerate growth and development, early sexual maturity, and expose breast cells to estrogen and prolactin earlier, thereby increasing the chance of cancer. The estrogen level in obese people is relatively higher than that in people of normal weight, which is also the main cause of breast cancer.

Secondly, fat can increase the conversion of androstenedione into estrogen, so a high-fat diet can change the endocrine environment in the body, intensify and prolong the stimulation of estrogen on the breast, and increase the risk of breast cancer.

Third, obesity can suppress the body's immune function, thereby losing the ability to monitor cancer cells. Many carcinogens are fat-soluble, and the fat in obese people can become a vehicle for the carcinogens, leading to an increase in the amount of carcinogens in the human body, thus increasing the likelihood of inducing cancer. More importantly, fat can also provide a nutritional source for certain cancer enhancers.

In addition, excessive obesity can easily cause breast cancer metastasis. This is because obese people generally suffer from hyperlipidemia, which can accelerate blood coagulation and reduce the activity of fibrin decomposition, making it easy for cancer cells to form clumps and increase the chance of cancer metastasis.

Therefore, from the perspective of preventing breast cancer and preventing the recurrence and metastasis of breast cancer, fat intake should be reduced to prevent excessive obesity.
