Treatment of bone cancer with traditional Chinese medicine based on syndrome differentiation

Based on the symptoms of bone cancer, Chinese medicine practitioners in my country divide bone cancer into three types, namely, Yin-cold stagnation type, toxic-heat accumulation type, and kidney deficiency and fire depression type. The syndrome differentiation and treatment methods for different types are as follows. After consulting a doctor in detail, patients can choose the corresponding Chinese medicine prescription for decoction according to their symptoms.

1. Yin-cold stagnation type

Symptoms: Initial onset of osteoma, mild pain, aggravated by cold, localized mass, unchanged skin color, no tenderness, or even no pain, long course of disease. Pale tongue, thin, slow pulse.

Treatment principles: warming the Yang, relieving congestion, unblocking the meridians and removing stagnation.

Prescription: Modified Yanghe Decoction

Rehmannia glutinosa 30g, cinnamon bark 3g, antler glue 10g, ephedra 1.5g, white mustard seed 6g, roasted ginger 1.5g, raw licorice 3g, Clematidis 30g, Psoralea corylifolia 20g, Radix Polygoni Multiflori 15g, Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae 10g, Aconiti Kusnezoffii 2g, Radix Aconitum 2g.

2. Toxic heat accumulation type

Symptoms: Rapid enlargement of the bone tumor, increasing pain, stabbing and burning pain, dark purple and red bruises on the skin, impaired limb movement, sometimes accompanied by fever, dry and constipated stools. Dark red tongue with bruises, thin or stringy pulse.

Treatment principles: clearing away heat and detoxifying, resolving blood stasis and dispersing nodules.

Prescription: Qin Gou Long Zhe Tang

30g of Scutellaria baicalensis, 30g of Solanum nigrum, 30g of Honeysuckle, 30g of Taraxacum mongolicum, 30g of Clematis chinensis, 30g of Radix Polygoni Multiflori, 20g of Cynanchum wilfordii, 20g of Radix Trichosanthis, 15g of Phellodendron chinense, 15g of Achyranthes bidentata, 10g of Scutellaria baicalensis, 10g of Scolopendra subspinipes, 10g of Paeonia lactiflora, 5g of Frankincense, 5g of Myrrh, and 3g of Raw Licorice.

3. Kidney deficiency and fire stagnation type

Symptoms: local swelling and pain, dark red skin, unbearable pain, mild in the morning and severe in the evening, fever, dry mouth, cough, weight loss, sallow complexion, difficulty walking, mental depression. Dark tongue and pale lips, less or dry black coating.

Treatment principles: Nourish the kidney and fill the marrow, reduce fire and detoxify.

Prescription: Four-bone soup

30g of Scutellaria baicalensis, 30g of walnut branches, 30g of Ligustrum lucidum, 20g of Polygonum aviculare, 20g of Radix Rehmanniae, 15g of Psoralea corylifolia, 15g of Cornus officinalis, 15g of Drynaria fortunei, 15g of Dipsacus asper, 15g of Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 15g of Angelica sinensis, 10g of Natural Copper, 10g of Cortex Moutan, 10g of Phellodendron amurense, and 10g of Rhizoma Anemarrhenae.
