The main factors leading to liver cancer

Understanding liver cancer should start with the factors that lead to malignant transformation of liver cancer. The risk factor that is relatively well known to everyone is the hepatitis virus, which is also a factor that the medical community has studied the most about the cause of liver cancer. Various studies have shown that hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus are closely related to the occurrence of liver cancer. A survey shows that hepatitis B is the main cause of liver cancer in developing countries, while hepatitis C is the main cause of liver cancer in developed countries.

As the largest developing country, my country has the largest number of hepatitis B virus carriers. The huge base number leads to a high incidence of liver cancer. Therefore, patients with viral hepatitis should pay special attention to the occurrence of liver cancer. However, the factors that cause liver cancer are far more than hepatitis viruses. Studies have shown that multiple factors can lead to the occurrence of liver cancer, including:

1. Chemical factors: Chemical factors mainly refer to aflatoxin. You should try to avoid eating food contaminated by aflatoxin or moldy food. It also includes carcinogens in the environment such as formaldehyde, benzene, arsenic, etc.

2. Sex hormones: Data show that patients who use androgen-stimulating hormones for a long time to treat aplastic anemia may develop liver cancer.

3. Genetic diseases: Various genetic diseases can lead to the occurrence of liver cancer, such as α-antitrypsin deficiency and hemochromatosis.

4. Drinking water pollution: Due to the worsening industrial pollution in recent years, drinking water may contain excessive bacteria, viruses, industrial toxins, nitrosamines, heavy metals, organochlorine pesticides, etc. Residents who drink sewage for a long time have a significantly higher incidence of liver cancer.

5. Bad habits: Studies have shown that excessive drinking is a conditional factor for liver cancer. Long-term excessive drinkers have a significantly higher risk of liver cancer than non-drinkers.
