Normal values of tumor markers related to lung cancer

Normal values of tumor markers related to lung cancer

Tumor markers are some unique chemical substances secreted by tumor cells. The serum concentration of tumor markers is closely related to the pathological type and clinical stage, which is helpful for tissue pathological typing, disease monitoring and efficacy judgment. Tumor markers related to lung cancer mainly include carcinoembryonic antigen, sugar chain antigen 50, squamous cell carcinoma antigen, cancer antigen 125, β2 microglobulin, neuron-specific enolase, etc. Their normal values are mainly as follows:

1. Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA): 70% of lung cancer patients may have elevated CEA. The sensitivity of different pathological types is different, among which adenocarcinoma has the highest sensitivity. The normal reference value is: serum CEA <5ug/L.

2. Carbohydrate antigen 50 (CA50): CA50 is abnormally elevated in patients with lung cancer. The normal reference value is: serum CA50 < 24U/ml.

3. Squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC): SCC is elevated in patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma. SCC has low sensitivity but high specificity for squamous cell carcinoma. 25% to 75% of patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma have elevated serum SCC. Normal reference value: serum SCC < 5ug/L.

4. Cancer antigen 125 (CA125) Serum CA125 is also elevated in patients with advanced lung cancer, and its serum concentration increases with the progression of lung cancer. Normal reference value: serum CA125 < 35U/ml.

5. Cancer antigen 15-3 (CA15-3): CA15-3 is elevated in patients with lung cancer. The normal reference value is: serum CA15-3 <28U/ml.

6. β2 microglobulin (β2M): The β2 microglobulin level in lung cancer patients is abnormally elevated. The normal reference values are: serum β2M <24mg/L, urine <160ug/L.

7. Neuron-specific enolase (NSE): The NSE level in patients with small cell lung cancer is 5-10 times higher than that in patients with other types of lung cancer, with a sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 80% to 90%. The normal reference value is: serum NSE <12.5U/mL.
