9 nursing measures after bladder cancer surgery

Scientific care for bladder cancer patients after surgery can speed up wound healing and avoid complications such as infection. General precautions include the following:

1. Patients can eat after the operation, but the diet should be nutritious and high in crude fiber. Greasy, spicy and other irritating foods should be avoided to prevent constipation.

2. The wound surface of total bladder cancer resection is large and there may be a lot of bleeding. Vital signs should be closely observed to ensure smooth blood and fluid transfusions.

3. After the operation, observe the blood circulation of the urinary stoma at any time to detect complications in time, and keep the wound and stoma dressings clean and dry.

4. After electroresection of bladder tumor, blood clots should be prevented from blocking the catheter. Routine flushing can be performed for 1 to 3 days. The color of the bladder flushing drainage fluid should be observed, and the flushing speed should be adjusted in time according to the changes in the color of the drainage fluid.

5. The drainage tube of the ileal bladder or controllable bladder is easily blocked. Pay attention to squeeze out the mucus in time. If there is an amniotic fluid storage bladder, flush it with normal saline once every 4 hours.

6. Measure body temperature and changes in white blood cells regularly to observe whether infection occurs. Appropriate activities or regular administration of antibiotics can prevent infection.

7. 10 to 12 days after ileal bladder surgery, if there is no abnormality, the ureteral drainage tube and ileal bladder drainage tube can be removed and replaced with a skin ostomy bag.

8. For controlled bladder surgery, the ureteropelvic drainage tube should be removed 8 to 10 days after surgery, the allantois drainage tube should be removed 12 to 14 days after surgery, and the output tract drainage tube should be removed 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, and the patient should be trained to urinate independently.

9. If symptoms and signs of shock are found, timely treatment and care should be provided.
