Dizziness and vomiting were caused by meningioma

Zheng Jie is an ordinary salesperson in the company. Due to business reasons, he always needs to go out. However, when recalling last summer, Zheng Jie still feels like a nightmare.

It was extremely hot on the day of the accident. Walking on the street, Zheng Jie suddenly felt dizzy and vomited all the food he had eaten at noon. His colleagues thought he had heat stroke and rushed him home. After two days of rest, Zheng Jie's symptoms did not improve and his headache became more and more severe. His family rushed him to a local hospital. The CT scan of the head showed: "a mass in the left frontal area next to the sickle, the nature of which is unclear."

MRI examination of the head showed: "A mass was found near the left falx cerebral sinus, which might be a meningioma."

Treatment Process

The doctor performed a "microcraniotomy" on Zheng Jie under general anesthesia. Under the microscope, it was found that the top tumor was adhered to the dura mater, the capsule was intact, the texture was hard, the blood supply was rich, and the base was connected to the falx cerebri. The tumor was completely removed under the microscope, the superior sagittal sinus was well protected during the operation, and the operation was successfully completed. The postoperative pathological results were: (next to the left falx cerebri) psammomatous meningioma (WHO grade I).

Doctor's words

The doctor told Zheng Jie that dizziness and vomiting are typical symptoms of meningioma. Early surgery will be of great help in removing the brain tumor, and the cost of the surgery will not be much higher.

Tips: What is microcraniotomy?

Microcraniotomy, also known as "awakening anesthesia function to remove brain tumors," refers to the removal of brain tumors within the field of view under a microscope. The surgery uses a neuroendoscope to find and "sweep" remaining tumors hidden in blind spots, while using magnetic resonance imaging to accurately locate the tumor. While completely removing the tumor, it effectively protects the function of brain tissue and improves the safety of the surgery.
