Lack of sunlight can easily lead to lung cancer!

What are the causes of lung cancer? More and more people are suffering from lung cancer, so people must know the causes of lung cancer. In addition to tobacco, the cause of lung cancer may also be lack of sunlight. So why do you say that? Let the experts explain it to us.

Indoor air pollution and lung cancer in women

Every year, more than 1 million people die from lung cancer worldwide. Researchers examined medical data from 111 countries around the world. They found that smoking is the biggest killer of lung cancer, accounting for 85% of all lung cancer cases. However, sunlight, especially ultraviolet light, is the main source of vitamin D for the body, and exposure to the sun seems to have a certain effect on inhibiting the disease. The closer to the equator, the more ultraviolet light there is. Research analysis shows that the countries farthest from the equator have the highest incidence of lung cancer, and the countries closest to the equator have the lowest causes of lung cancer.

High cloud cover and air aerosol levels are also associated with the cause of lung cancer. Lead researcher Dr. Cedric Garland said that lung cancer, like many other diseases, usually starts from epithelial cells on the surface of organ tissues. When cells begin to divide freely, cancer is formed. He said that vitamin D stimulates the secretion of chemicals that combine with calcium to form a jelly that sticks these cells together tightly and prevents them from dividing.

There is also evidence that vitamin D may slow the spread of cancer after it has already developed. Dr. Garland also stressed that moderate sun exposure does not increase the risk of melanoma, the deadliest skin cancer. He said the only skin cancer that moderate sun exposure can cause is squamous cell carcinoma, but people do not die from this cancer as many as lung cancer and other cancers, and moderate sun exposure can help prevent other diseases.

When the weather is clear and the season and temperature permit, spend 5 to 15 minutes in the sun within two hours at noon every day, and expose 40% of your skin. If you are in the sun for more than a few minutes, wear a wide-brimmed hat, but don't wear sunscreen during this time, because sunscreen blocks the synthesis of vitamin D. Dr. Carter Arney of the British Cancer Charity stressed that so far, they have found that smoking is the biggest culprit in the cause of lung cancer. She said: "There is growing evidence that vitamin D may help reduce the risk of some cancers, such as bowel cancer, but the link between vitamin D and lung cancer remains unclear. The researchers did not measure people's vitamin D levels, and several other factors may need to be considered, including differences in sun protection methods and the way cancer cases are registered in different countries. We know that vitamin D is necessary for maintaining good health, and that the amount of time you get vitamin D from sun exposure is not enough to get a tan or sunburn."

The above is an introduction to the causes of lung cancer, and I hope everyone can pay attention to it. What the experts want to tell you is that in daily life, we must pay attention to our living habits and not let our bad habits lead to the occurrence of diseases.
