How to treat human Demodex

How to treat human Demodex

Mites can be said to be everywhere in people's daily lives. Not only do they exist in the natural environment, but there are also some mites on people's faces and bodies. For example, the blackheads on people's noses are mostly closely related to mites. In today's society, many types of mites have been discovered, one of which is called human Demodex. In fact, it is the main cause of rosacea in a person. So what is the treatment strategy after human Demodex occurs?

It is generally believed that the harm caused by mites to humans is not as terrible as some businesses advertise. To prevent Demodex infection, attention should be paid to personal hygiene and environmental hygiene. Infected people who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms do not require special treatment, while those with more obvious symptoms can be treated with medication or physical methods. Demodectic mange is generally not something that can be solved simply by applying medication. Especially when there is acne or rosacea, comprehensive symptomatic treatment is required, including oral metronidazole to kill Demodex mites, oral vitamin A to eliminate inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands, and some even require tetracyclines for antibacterial treatment and vitamin B6 to regulate sebaceous gland metabolism. Topical drugs for killing demodex mites are often preparations containing metronidazole or sulfur, such as sulfur ointment and compound metronidazole cream. The traditional Chinese medicine Stemona tincture is also effective. Prevention is very important. You should pay attention to facial cleanliness and hygiene. You can use sulfur soap and warm water to wash your face to remove facial oil. Skin care products should be water-in-oil creams. Banana, apple and cucumber mud masks have astringent effects and are suitable for people with oily skin.

In addition to some conventional drugs, experts have also made some useful attempts. For example, the experimental results of Liu Dahua et al. show that 75% alcohol and 3% Lysol have good insecticidal effects, but the action time must be more than 15 minutes; 0.1% Sanisol has no obvious insecticidal effect, and the mites are still active after 30 minutes of action; 2% chloramphenicol alcohol has a certain insecticidal effect; 2% metronidazole alcohol solution has a more obvious insecticidal effect than the simple 2% metronidazole aqueous solution; 1,300 cases of human demodicosis were treated with compound chloramphenicol spirit for external use and metronidazole (metronidazole) for internal use, with significant therapeutic effects and a total effective rate of 98%. Some experts conducted a peppermint oil emulsion drug drop experiment on live Demodex mites under a microscope and confirmed that all the Demodex mites were killed after 3 hours of drug action; 50 patients were treated with the drug for 1 month, and 30 of those with mild symptoms were effective; adding metronidazole to the peppermint oil emulsion and taking metronidazole orally had a better effect.

In short, Demodex infestation is widespread, with varying clinical manifestations, some severe and some mild. The specific causes are still unclear, and drugs for prevention and treatment need to be further developed and improved.
