What does joint disease mean

The human body is made up of many joint tissues, and joint disease means that the joints have organic lesions or functional disorders. There are many common types of knee diseases, such as meniscus injury, cartilage injury, cruciate ligament or collateral ligament injury that are often suffered by the elderly. These are all traumatic lesions of the knee joint. There are also arthritic lesions and lesions caused by tumors. Please read this article for details.

First of all, lesions caused by trauma, such as meniscus damage, cartilage damage, cruciate ligament or collateral ligament damage, can cause swelling and pain in the joints and even movement disorders.

Secondly, arthritis lesions are divided into infectious and non-infectious causes. Infectious causes such as bacteria and certain viruses can cause arthritic changes. The most common non-infectious causes are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, etc. There are more than a hundred types of rheumatoid arthritis, all of which can cause joint changes.

Another type of joint disease is caused by tumors, including benign tumors or malignant tumors. The most common ones include synovial chondromatosis, pigmented villonodular synovitis, or tenosynovial giant cell tumor, all of which are benign tumors. Some malignant tumors will also cause corresponding joint lesions when they involve joint tissues.

Joint diseases generally adopt comprehensive treatment measures, including physical therapy, rehabilitation therapy, drug therapy, surgical treatment, etc. Clinically, specific treatment methods are selected based on specific circumstances. Various treatment methods are used to maintain the stability and integrity of the joints, control the stability of the internal environment of the joints, keep the joints in optimal range of motion, and maintain muscle strength, so that the joints can function normally.

If you have the high-risk factors mentioned above and experience unexplained joint pain, go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. The simplest and most direct examination method is X-ray examination, which can not only clarify the nature and extent of the lesion, but also exclude other causes of joint diseases.
