Cavitary tuberculosis with hemoptysis

Cavitary tuberculosis with hemoptysis

Most people may think that there is only one type of tuberculosis. In their eyes, tuberculosis is a highly contagious disease, so they don’t know much about the types of tuberculosis. However, there are many classifications of pulmonary tuberculosis in clinical medicine. One of them is called cavitary tuberculosis, which is considered a relatively serious disease condition. What should I do if I have cavitary tuberculosis and cough up blood?

Pulmonary tuberculosis is also classified clinically. One type of cavitary tuberculosis is relatively serious and difficult to treat. If not treated properly, it may relapse after being cured. Therefore, the timing of treatment is very important for this type of tuberculosis. What are the symptoms of cavitary tuberculosis?

1. Tuberculous cavities generally do not have fluid levels unless infected, while inflammatory cavities often have fluid levels due to necrosis and liquefaction of inflammatory tissue.

2. Multi-morphological and multi-nature lesions are common around tuberculous cavities, such as cloud-like infiltration shadows, fibrous cords, nodules, calcification shadows, adhesion and hypertrophy of the pleura adjacent to the cavity, and ipsilateral and contralateral bronchial dissemination lesions. The outer edge of the inflammatory cavity wall often appears as a large blurred shadow, which may present as a radial edge of the image of pneumonia infiltration, often spanning segments, and the surrounding pleura may have a more severe reaction. When the inflammation of chronic lung abscess subsides, the fibers in the cavity wall proliferate, the density increases, and they are often irregular, and sometimes fluid levels may be present. Generally speaking, inflammatory cavities often do not have disseminated lesions.

3. The size of tuberculosis cavities changes slowly, while the size of inflammatory cavities changes easily due to the acute nature of the inflammation.

4. Low fever (especially in the afternoon), night sweats, fatigue, poor appetite, weight loss, menstrual disorders in women, etc.; respiratory symptoms include cough, sputum, hemoptysis, chest pain, varying degrees of chest tightness or difficulty breathing.

The above are the symptoms of cavitary tuberculosis. If you have similar symptoms, you must pay attention to it. Once diagnosed, you must receive treatment immediately. If the examination shows that you are contagious, you must also be isolated and treated. Relatives who have been in contact with the patient should also be checked to see if they are infected. Tuberculosis is mainly transmitted through droplets, so relatives are also likely to get sick.
