What is the disease of mycoplasma double positive

Mycoplasma infection is a very common disease and is very harmful. During normal examinations, if the conclusion is positive, it means that an infection has occurred. But some people tested double positive. What is the disease of double positive mycoplasma? Generally speaking, mycoplasma double positivity means infection with both Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum, which requires timely treatment. Let’s take a look below.

Among the 16 mycoplasmas isolated from the human body, 5 are pathogenic to humans, namely Mycoplasma pneumoniae, ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis, Mycoplasma genitalium and Mycoplasma fermentum, which contain ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma hominis, which are pathogenic to humans.

Mycoplasma hominis infection

Mycoplasma hominis is a type of mycoplasma that exists in the urinary system and genitals and can cause urinary tract infections and genital inflammation.

Mode of transmission

Adults are mainly infected through sexual contact, while newborns are infected through their mother's reproductive tract during delivery. The site of infection in adult males is the urethral mucosa, and in females it is the cervix. In neonates, it mainly causes conjunctivitis and pneumonia.

Ureaplasma urealyticum infection

Ureaplasma urealyticum is the smallest prokaryotic organism between bacteria and viruses, and mainly lives in the human urogenital tract. Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) is a type of ureaplasma urealyticum. When the body's immunity is reduced, it is one of the important pathogens of sexually transmitted diseases. It can not only cause genital infections such as the vagina and cervix, but is also closely related to miscarriage, infertility and intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus.

Infection route

Ureaplasma urealyticum can colonize on the surface of epithelial cells of the urethra and genital tract mucosa, and direct sexual contact is the main transmission route of UU infection. In addition to direct sexual contact, infection can also occur through indirect contact through contaminated clothing. Ureaplasma urealyticum can be transmitted vertically through the placenta or spread upward from the lower reproductive tract infection of pregnant women, causing intrauterine infection. Both can lead to a series of adverse consequences such as miscarriage, premature birth, intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight, premature rupture of membranes, and even intrauterine fetal death.
