Symptoms of arm ligament strain

Symptoms of arm ligament strain

In fact, many people often feel ligament sprains, but since some ligament sprains are not serious, the feeling is not obvious. In fact, arm ligament sprains are caused by many factors. The first common one is weight. Suddenly, due to restricted activities, sprains will occur, and there will be bruising and swelling. The most obvious thing is pain, which is enough to cause patients to suffer great pain.

Arm ligament strain

Arm ligament sprain is mainly caused by trauma, especially traction injury of the arm. When lifting heavy objects, if inappropriate force is used, it is easy to cause ligament sprain in the arm, causing sudden pain in the arm and limited movement. There will be obvious tenderness in the local area, damaged ligaments, subcutaneous bruising and swelling.

Therefore, after a ligament sprain occurs, you must seek medical attention promptly, regardless of the severity of the ligament sprain, and undergo an MRI examination, because MRI is more accurate in examining soft tissue injuries.

If there is simple ligament congestion and edema without tearing or rupture, the upper limb can be suspended in front of the chest for three to four weeks of treatment. After three to four weeks, you can gradually perform shoulder lifting activities.

If the ligament is torn or ruptured, it will affect the stability of the joint, and later affect the patient's lifting and normal upper limb flexion and extension activities. Surgical repair is required to stabilize the joint structure.

How to recover quickly after spraining arm ligaments

Ligament strain in the arm is mainly caused by pulling injury, which will affect shoulder lifting activities and lifting objects.

In this case, the joint should be immobilized first. It is best to suspend the affected limb in front of the chest for three weeks to create conditions for the repair of the damaged ligament. At the same time, cold compresses should be applied within 24 hours of the injury, mainly to relieve pain and avoid worsening swelling. During the suspension period, finger extension and fist exercises can be performed appropriately to avoid muscle disuse atrophy caused by long-term inactivity of the upper limbs. Blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs can be used after 24 hours, and hot compresses can be applied to the affected side after 48 hours. Generally, through suspension and the use of drugs combined with hot and cold compresses, the arm ligament strain will be fully recovered in about three weeks.
