What to do if you have a toothache and swollen cheek

When you have a toothache, it will affect other organs, causing neuralgia pain in multiple organs and causing too many sensitive problems. When the toothache is accompanied by swollen cheeks, you need to treat the toothache first. Only by eliminating the toothache can the swelling slowly subside. You cannot extract teeth during toothache because extraction during the redness and swelling may cause infection.

Tips to stop toothache

Toothache (neurogenic, allergic, or tooth decay pain): 10 peppercorns and one or two ounces of white wine. Soak the peppercorns in the wine. After ten minutes, hold the wine in your mouth. It will take effect in a few minutes. Do it twice a day for 10 minutes each time. It will be cured in 3-4 days.

Periodontitis, gingivitis: Add an equal amount of white wine to an egg white, mix well, drink a mouthful, hold it in your mouth, and spit it out after 5 minutes. Do this twice a day (one egg a day), it will reduce inflammation and relieve pain in 2-3 days.

Bleeding teeth (caused by frequent bleeding or brushing): 10 peppercorns, 3 taels of vinegar, soak for 2 days and then hold in the mouth for 3 minutes at a time, twice a day. Use for 5 consecutive days for special effects.

Causes and symptoms

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that toothache is caused by exogenous wind evil, excessive stomach fire, kidney deficiency and fire, and tooth erosion. Gingivitis is a common periodontal disease. It is caused by not paying attention to oral hygiene, long-term stimulation of the teeth by soft plaque and hard tartar formed by food residues and bacteria around the teeth, incorrect brushing habits, vitamin deficiency and other reasons.

The gums are bright red or purple, swollen, and soft. Sometimes the gum margin is eroded or the inner bud tissue proliferates and everts. The gums are prone to bleeding when brushing teeth or eating, but there is generally no spontaneous bleeding. The patient has no obvious subjective symptoms, but sometimes there may be itching or swelling, and obvious bad breath.

Periodontitis is a common oral disease with complex etiology. Stimulation from local factors such as dental plaque, tartar, impacted food, poor restorations, etc., which damage the gums and cause destruction of the periodontal membrane due to bacteria; impairment of the absorption and utilization of vitamin C; vitamin D deficiency and a decrease in the body's resistance due to various factors can all lead to periodontitis.

Toothache is the main symptom of this disease. In the early stages, the gums will itch, feel uncomfortable, and cause bad breath, followed by redness, swelling, looseness, easy bleeding, and pain, which will recur repeatedly. Over time, the periodontal membrane between the gums and the roots of the teeth is destroyed, forming a bag called a periodontal pocket. Pus often overflows from the pocket, and the inflammation continues to expand, which may become a periodontal abscess. The condition worsens, with local pain and swelling. It is hard at first, then becomes soft and has a fluctuating feeling. It may break through on its own and pus may flow out. After the pus flows out, the pain may be relieved, or it may recur and be very painful.
