Ten characteristics of short life

Lifespan refers to the total number of years a person can live. The length of this time is affected by many factors, which leads to differences in lifespan between people. Gender differences have a certain impact on life expectancy, and some studies have shown that women are more likely to live longer than men. Other influencing factors such as sleep conditions, stress, and even education level may have an impact on life expectancy. So what are the characteristics of short life?

Short life has the following characteristics:

Feature 1: The faster the heartbeat, the shorter the life span

In the biological world, generally speaking, the faster the heartbeat, the shorter the lifespan. For example, turtles live a long time because they have a slow heartbeat. When a turtle hibernates, its heart beats only 10 times a minute. The reason why mice have a short lifespan is because of their fast heartbeat. Regardless of whether they are active or not, their heart beats about 100-150 times per minute.

So how many times per minute is normal for a person's heart to beat? Generally speaking, when a person is awake, inactive and quiet, it is best to maintain a heart rate of 60-70 beats per minute. Heart patients can keep their resting heart rate lower.

Feature 2: Weak strength, little muscle, and short lifespan

Which will shorten your life: having a muscular body or being thin and weak? A 27-year investigation among 1 million Swiss men by Swiss scientists found that men with stronger muscles have a lower mortality rate and longer life span.

The subjects were divided into groups based on their grip strength, number of push-ups and calf flexion and extension strength. The average mortality rate of the stronger group was 20% to 35% lower than that of the other groups, and the probability of suffering from mental illness was nearly 65% lower.

Having strong muscles can better resist muscle loss, maintain body functions better, and extend life. On the contrary, if you have less muscle and less strength, your body functions will naturally be poor and your life span will be shorter.

Characteristic 3: Not using your hands, not using your brain, and having a short life span

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, USA, found that elderly people who regularly do handicrafts have a significantly lower risk of memory problems, a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease, and a longer life span.

According to the researchers, this may be because when people engage in these activities, they can stimulate the brain and protect brain neurons. However, if retired elderly people do nothing all day and are listless, not only will their physical condition deteriorate, but they will also be prone to mental problems, which will naturally affect their lifespan.

Feature 4: The slower you walk, the shorter your lifespan

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States concluded that the average walking speed is 0.9 meters per second. Those who walk at a speed slower than 0.6 meters per second have an increased chance of death, while those who walk faster than 1 meter per second have a longer life span.

There is some truth to this. On the one hand, the slow walking speed reflects that the elderly person's body system is already damaged, and on the other hand, it also shows that he needs to consume more energy when walking.

Feature 5: The worse the sense of balance, the shorter the lifespan

The test of sitting down without holding onto anything and then standing up can also predict mortality. This test is particularly useful for people aged 51 to 80.
