The toes should be on a horizontal line. If the toes are curled up from one side, or have extra toes or are deformed, it may affect our normal walking and shoe wearing. For example, some people have big toe valgus. We cannot guarantee whether it is hereditary, but we must do a good job of correcting it. Pathology As the degree of hallux valgus increases, the inversion of the first metatarsal bone also becomes more and more serious, the compression and friction of the first metatarsal head increase, the local bursa thickens, and bone spurs proliferate to form a large bone crutch. The obvious widening of the forefoot makes it difficult for these people to choose a pair of suitable and beautiful shoes. When the hot summer comes, they cannot wear sandals because they think their feet are not beautiful or even ugly. 2. Due to long-term friction, the soft tissue on the inner side of the first metatarsal head grows and thickens, causing local aseptic inflammation to form bursitis (clinically known as "bunion"), which causes severe pain and affects walking. 3. As the big toe deviates to the outside, the second toe is lifted up, and the other toes are squeezed from the outside of the shoe, causing the 2nd to 4th toes to be deformed like chicken claws. The back of the toes is rubbed and corns may form, which are most common on the back of the 2nd and 4th toes. At the same time, due to the deformity of the toes, the metatarsal heads are pressed down and collapsed, and a foot pad will be formed on the sole of the metatarsal heads. This situation is most common on the sole of the 2nd toe head. Corns and foot pads will cause severe pain, which will recur and affect normal life and work. 4. As the forefoot becomes wider and the transverse arch collapses, the foot will more or less turn outward when walking, which will lead to changes in the weight-bearing surface of the ankle joint, causing traumatic inflammation of the ankle joint, pain, and even affecting the knee joint, hip joint and even the waist. 5. Similarly, due to the widening of the forefoot, collapse of the transverse arch, and decreased foot shock absorption and foot jumping ability, the athletic ability of these people is seriously affected. As a disease, hallux valgus did not cause too many discomfort symptoms to people in the early days except for the unsightly appearance, difficulty in choosing shoes and easy damage to the shape of shoes. However, as people age, the severity of hallux valgus deformity increases, which can lead to many serious complications, such as bunion, claw toes, corns, calluses, etc. The occurrence of these complications not only affects foot function, but also causes pain, seriously affecting life and work. Therefore, it is recommended that when hallux valgus deformity is discovered, it is best to prevent and treat it early. This will not only delay the deterioration of hallux valgus, but also effectively prevent the occurrence of some complications. |
