How to kill mullet

Many people don’t know much about mullet. Mullet is also called black fish. It is a variety of fish with relatively high nutritional value. Currently, the most commonly farmed ones are black snakehead and spotted snakehead. The method of killing mullet is basically the same as other fish. First, clean the body of the fish, then put it on the chopping board, and hit the top of the fish head a few times with the back of the knife. This will make the fish unconscious, and then you can clean the fish.

How to kill mullet

First, wash the fish body, place the clean fish on the chopping board, hold the fish body with your left hand, and use a rolling pin or the back of a knife with your right hand to hit the top of the fish head a few times to make the fish unconscious and reduce its struggle. The main purpose is to prevent it from jumping around when handling it, making it easier to dissect (a bit cruel, but for the sake of delicious food, it's worth it!).

Second, place the fish in the sink and scrape off the scales. Generally, you can use a blade or fingernails to peel off the scales layer by layer, and then rinse it with clean water.

Third, hold up the fish gill cover with your left hand and dig out the gills. Remember to dig them out cleanly without leaving any trace of red gills, then rinse them off with water.

Fourth, continue to hold the fish on the chopping board with your left hand, and use a knife or scissors in your right hand to scrape open the fish belly, starting from the cloaca and going all the way to under the gill cover. It is best to cut in a straight line until the whole fish can be broken apart.

Fifth, dig out the fish's internal organs, paying attention to digging out the fish heart and esophagus above the diaphragm near the fish head. This way the whole fish is meat.

Sixth, use clean water to clean the dirt on the fish's body surface and in its abdominal cavity. The black membrane in the fish's belly should also be carefully cleaned. Wash and place on a plate.

The male and female pair up, which may be the only hermaphroditic pair in fish.
