People often go to flower shops to buy roses, especially when couples express their love, roses are the most common gifts. Roses are very beautiful in appearance and also represent love for each other and symbolize the passion of love. However, in life, everyone will find a big problem, that is, roses are easy to wither. In fact, as long as you master the correct preservation method, roses can be preserved for a long time. How to preserve roses for a long time? The temperature for storing roses should not be too low, about 2 to 3 degrees above zero is enough, in a cool place, away from the sun. Prepare a bucket of clean water (big enough to hold a whole bunch of roses), put the pre-tied roses (it's best not to open them to prevent the flowers from blooming prematurely) in it, and the water should be 8 to 10 centimeters above the roots. Change the water every day, and cut a branch every two days (ordinary scissors can be used, cut them diagonally). Remember to wear gloves, otherwise your hands will be pricked and it will be very painful. I tried it last year and it worked for 2-3 weeks using this method. Also, the petals tend to have black edges over time, so use scissors to cut them off or remove them (if there are enough petals). The leaves of roses and lilies turn black because they have been blown by wind or cold air when you buy them. Next time you buy flowers, remember to wrap not only the flowers but also the leaves, preferably with newspaper. Putting some vitamin C in the vase can extend the life of the flower arrangements. Here are some other methods: How to extend the life of flower arrangements? (1) Reasonable use of water is the key to extending the life of cut flowers. When arranging flowers, you should use clean river water, rain water or pond water that is close to room temperature. If you use tap water, you must first store it in a tank (bucket) for 1 day before use. At the same time, pay attention to changing the water frequently, and promptly remove the dead flowers and leaves, and appropriately shorten the flower branches to facilitate the flowers to absorb water and extend the life of the flowers. (2) Put half a tablet of crushed aspirin, or a tablet of vitamin C, or an appropriate amount of boric acid, sulfur or 0.1% salt into 500 grams of water, all of which can help prolong the flowering period. (3) Prepare a sterile solution, add 1% alcohol and 0.1% sugar, and insert the flowers into this solution to extend the flowering period. (4) Cuttings should be made before the morning dew disappears. Cut off the leaves in the water to prevent rotting. Put the branches into water immediately after cutting to avoid affecting the life of the flower due to excessive water loss. For flower branches containing a lot of juice, such as poinsettia, they should not be put into water immediately after cutting. Instead, the cut surface should be burned over the flame of a candle or alcohol lamp, and then some of the burnt part should be cut off. Then they should be disinfected and washed with clean water, and finally put into water to prevent withering due to excessive loss of juice. (5) After inserting the cut flowers into the water bottle, do not place it in direct sunlight, and do not place it close to a heat source, otherwise the flowers will wilt prematurely. In addition, it is not advisable to place cut flowers near ripe fruits, otherwise it will accelerate the shedding of petals. For example, roses, carnations, daffodils, freesias, lilies, baby's breath, etc. are very sensitive to the gases released by fruits. (6) Blanching method: Immerse the base of the flower branch in boiling water and take it out after ten seconds (fragile and delicate flowers can only be immersed for one or two seconds). This can block the incision and prevent the fluid from overflowing from the flower branch tissue. It has a better effect on herbaceous flowers. (7) Salt water or sugar water method: Add a little salt or sugar to the water used to grow flowers. You can also crush the cut ends of the flower branches and rub them with salt. This method is more effective than the blanching method. Sugar keeps the flowers bright and long-lasting. However, branches with buds that have not yet bloomed should not be soaked in salt water, otherwise the flowers will find it difficult to bloom. (8) Burning method: When cutting the flowers, apply a little alcohol on the cut surface and burn it in the flame. Wait until the cut surface is almost charred before inserting it into the vase, so that it can be preserved for a long time. However, this method is only suitable for woody plants or plants with thick branches and trunks, such as costus, lilac, plum blossom, peony, ivory red, chrysanthemum, etc. (9) Liquid immersion method: Before inserting the cut flower branches into the vase, immerse the ends of the branches in used waste developer for half an hour. This treatment can extend the flowering period of the branches. (10) Wine cultivation method: Add a little beer to the water. The flowering period can be extended by more than ten days. However, for flowers that are too delicate, it is better to add less beer. Experiments have shown that for potted Clivia flowers, pouring 50 ml of beer into each pot can not only promote the growth of flower stalks, but also make the flower stalks tall and thick, and the flowers large and bright. (11) Preservative method: Use a 1/3000 aspirin aqueous solution or a 1/2000 potassium permanganate aqueous solution to grow flowers, which will have a better effect in extending the flowering period. (12) Pruning by immersion in water: Leave the branches longer when collecting them. After bringing them back indoors, quickly immerse the base of the branches in a basin of water and cut off an appropriate portion (note that the branches should be cut obliquely). Then, place the branches in a vase immediately. Cut flowers purchased from the market should also be treated in the same way before being put into a vase. This method can effectively eliminate and reduce bubble blockage inside the flower stem, improve the absorption capacity of the flower branches after being placed in the vase, and extend the shelf life. In addition, the water used for flower arranging should preferably be well water, clear river water, etc. It is best to leave tap water for a day before use. |
